We also welcomed Mrs. Breau of Millville, New Brunswick. She had recently befriended the Patons and Loves in their hour of need. So of s course we were glad to meet her. Joan Aldred opened the meeting with a hymn follow- ed with prayer by Reta - Wilson. Reta Reader and Marion Carter- showed and described a large flip chart of the Symbols of the 'Church. We certainly appre- ciated the hours of work put into it by Miss Margaret Puckrin of Northminster Church in Oshawa. | -After singing another hymn we separated for indi- vidual business. : The "Head" ladies went to the. "Community Hall where they had to set up tables after the meeting. For the roll call, members presented a donation for the Hospital Spring Fair, this Immediate Delivery + FARM TANKS AND DX OIL In pellets coming Saturday, Notes of appreciation were received from Mrs. Nellie Miller and Mrs. Elva Martyn and the Simcoe Hall Settlement House. The pamphlet from Simcoe Hall explained other functions besides giving out clothes. They give counselling, have, nursery school facilities, give piano lessons at a nom- inal fee, training in wood- work, judo games and Saturday morn- ing speech correction classes. They also have a Boys Club and erippled children's treatment centre. As we enjoyed lunch and social period, Marion Carter read an amusing and appropriate article called 'A Leak in the Church Roof'. Thursday evening was the culmination of much of our work for the Beef Dinner when approx. 140 people enjoyed the sumptuous meal. 2 .Sunday turned out to be a happy Family Day at "Grace" Church when well over 100 at Since many regular people were MERS! | | MORE? We were pleased to have Mr. and Mrs. Ray Milner and Mrs. Glen Hood with us again. The children presented for Holy Baptism were Peter Russell, tiny son of Birdie and Peter Hood. He also had his godparents from Ennis- killen present. Then there was Lori Leighann, little daughter. of 'Patricia and Gordon Pogue. Little Andrew John, son of Barb- ara and John Ross with his godparents too. David Michael, little son of Janis and Brent Richardson. Monica Lisa, baby daughter of Melodie and Donald Cormier of Toronto. Nicole Marya, little daughter of Sharen and Bill Bobbie. Three girls and three boys, a well balanced number. It was a good day . for grandmothers too, as two assisted with the Scripture reading and Mrs. Joan Aldred sang a loyely solo. Rev. Pogue named sever- al worthy mothers through history such as, Hannah, Ruth, Esther and of course the Mother of Jesus. Today the status of Mother is being reduced as families break up and Mothers are often - forgotten. When people ex- perience parenthood, they realize they can no longer go on being a self-centred pe- ponsibilities seriously. Our children are ours for only a few years and therefore we' must guide and help them during that time. Even tHe ydung girls are anxious to give assistance. This week Mrs. Cliff Love has her Mother, Mrs. Nellie . Miller, visiting . for a few days. Grace is also enter-- taining two cousins . from England, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Botier are from Liver- pool and near London. For one it is her first: meeting with' Grace though they have corresponded since child- hood. Mrs. Lil Moore has recent- ly had a niece from Van- couver visiting with her. We frequently think about our friends who are present- ly in England and Ireland. We are pleased to see the following people out of hospital'again, Mrs. Blanche Mark, Mr. Arnold Goose and Mrs.- Mary Sweetman. We believe Mary has finally got an answer for her suffering and. has found helpful therapy. Miss Margaret Johns, who taught in the '"Head" school some years ago and remains in the memory of many "Head" - residents, passed away recently after giving a few years of service to her motherless niece and nephew. We were also saddened last Sunday to hear of the sudden passing of Mrs. Braham: She was much loved in this area as she and Rev.
