Town Hall theatre program cancelled due Town Hall 1873 Committee has had to pull the plug on an active summer theatre program due to the Lilla Street widing project. According to James Catty of the committee, the summer theatre was set up, ready to go when it. was realized that the August season would coincide with the Durham Region roads project. "There's no way we can hold it now," said Mr. Catty, referring to parking prob- lems that are being exper- ienced at the Lilla-Queen Street location even now. The cancellation will mean only the summer theatre program, however, and committee members are quick to point out that a full fall season is now being finalized. Music, local theatre, films and a wide range of other interests will be covered in the fall program. : Préliminary preparations are also underway on the 1977 summer theatre pro- gram. Work at the town hall is continueing as well, and Mr. Catty thinks that when the project is completed, about $200,000 will be spent on the building at no cost to local council.
