Several Greenbank people enjoyed the Anniversary supper which was held - in Wick Church last Friday evening. Association make plans Area presidents and chair- men of the Durham York - Progressive Conservative ; Association met Monday to make further organizational plans for the Riding. This group has been meeting regularly to complete poll organization and activities ,, 1 preparation for the next Provincial election when if. is called. Riding President; Norm Lyons of Leaskdale, is pleased with the progress of the organization and feels that his association will be better prepared than ever to give support to their candi- date, Bill Newman, Minister of Agriculture and Food. Valentia United Church Women were hostesses for Region 1 Rally of Lindsay Presbyterial U.C.W, at 10 A.M. on May 18, 1976, Mrs, Bert 'Wannamaker, Seagrave was in the chair and opened the rally with a call to Worship and Hymn 388, "0, Master. let me walk with Thee". . ; The U.C.W. Purpose was" recited in unison. Mrs. Gordon Grills, Valen- tia, graciously welcomed all present. Vroomanton U.C:W. were in charge of the Worship. The theme being "Called by God". Mrs. Roy McMullan, Sunderland, read Scripture from Mark 25: 1-13 and Mark - 12:41-44. Mrs. Allan Down, Sunderland, presented a meaningful meditation. Some thoughts to ponder -- What is calling us to do? Do we wantto hear it? We must give God our whole life. He calls us to be witnesses in our daily live in our community. Sunderland, Valentia and Vroomanton 'u CW's repor- ted a highlight' of the year' 5 work. There were 90 in attend- . ance, including 14 members of the Lindsay Presbyterial U.C.W. Executives. Mrs, Harold Kempling, in- vited the Rally to meet in Sunderland United Church in 1977. Mrs. Joe Perrault, Little Britain, gave a fine report of the school for U.C.W.'s held at Camp Quin-Mo-Lac which she attended last September. She urged more to attend. There were only 11 from Lindsay Presbyterial in 1975. + _The offering was received by Sunderland U.C.W., and dedicated by Mrs. Kenneth Harrison, Sunderland. ; Mrs. Wm. English, Cann- -ington, favoured us with a splendid report of the Annual Meeting of Conference U.C.W. held April 6 and 7 at Sterling. Mrs. John Coburn, Presby- terial Treasurer, Fenlon Falls, listed some special projects for our Supergifts. They are the Indian Home for Girls, 106 Spadina Rd., Toronto,; the Harriette Christie Memorial Fund; Victor Home for Girls; Youth Exchange; Bursary Fund; Street Hanen and Camp Quin-Mo-Lac. Mrs. Leslie Taylor, Sun- derland, Christian & Missionary Education and Stewardship Secretary, pre- sented interesting material and skits" for our use for these programmes. Mrs. Ernest Steels, Wood- ville, Supply and. Concern Secretary, suggested we look' for areas of concern nearby as well as in cities. Mrs. Burton Upton, Oak- wood, reported four vacan- cies on the Presbyterial Executive for 1977 and asked for our co-operation. Mrs. Wm. Jackson, Rea- _boro,_ Literature Secretary for our Presbyterial, had for display splendid books for Worship, programmes -and for daily devotion. The afternoon sessin was ~ opened by an enjoyable Sing Song led by Mrs. Don Hadden, assisted at the piano by Mrs. Albert Cooper, both of Pinedale U.C.W. An impressive Memorial Service was given by Mrs, "Mark Corneil and Mrs. Joe Perrault, Little Britain, A very humourous skit was presented by five ladies from Greenbank U.C:W. entitled a "Lesson in Futility", This was well received. The Theme of Mrs. Guth- rie's address was "The Pur- pose of the United Church Women". It was very help- ful and well received. Space permits only a few high- ts. "What does Mission mean to you?
