By Mrs. Grace Beacock The lengthy holiday week- end brought-about much cot- . tage life and family visiting away from home. There- fore, the congregation at Church on Sunday was noticeably smaller. The minister, Rev, R. Brawn, enjoyed the Bay of Quinte' Conference at King- ston, last week. He didn't neglect to enlighten us on a fulfilling message pertaining to the interesting sessions, Mrs. Hazel Slemmon and Mr. Norman Watson both attended, too, as a result they prepared .a "skit" which was plended with facts and humour and a benefit to all. . We sincerely enjoyed the voice of Mr. Irvine Gibson who as a guest, rendered two beautiful solos. The flowers were placed in the sanctuary by Mr. and Mrs. G. Jones in memory of their son, Howard, and a plant by Mrs. K. Williamson whose sister of England passed away recently. Collection gathered by Mrs. W.-Wozney and Mr. W. Vance. At one of the recent U.C.W. meetings each mem- ber contributed. an artificial flower thus when arranged made several colourful bouquets which hopefully were observed and admired. About now, I'd like to mention the face-lifting of our church parlors. First the gals, operating rollers and paint brush done up the ceiling and walls in yellow. Green "floral - drapes 'were laundered. Lastly, a carpen- ter, Mr. Allen Martyn and helpers, engineered the clos- _ ing-in of the nursery by a brown folding partition. He also panelled the wainscott- ing of the entire parlors. We all offer our sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. J. Brough over the sudden passing (motorcycle accident) of his brother. The Brough's at- tended the memorial service at Trenton. During these days, Mrs. Doris Peirce, Oshawa, stayed with grand- children, Richard and Paul. Better health is heartily wished Mrs. A. "Eila" Jef- frey and Mr. Tim Raines who are hospitalized. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ross and Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Jones who each were given a new arrival. The first stop was at the McLaughlin Planetarium where they viewed the dis- plays in the rotunda, and enjoyed the programme put on in the Star Theatre. The other stop was at the Legis- lative Building in Queen's Park. The guided tour, which had been arranged by Bill Newman, M.P.P. for, Durham York, and the Min- ister of Agriculture and Food, proved to be both interesting and educational. First of all, a picture was taken df the group. This was followed by a visit to the Legislative Chamber where their guide, Elizabeth, gave a brief sketch of the history of the Legislative Building, and of the manner in which our provincial government is carried on, Elizabeth then answered the many quest- ions asked by the adults and pupils. One very interesting fact is recalled. The con- Alcan Building Products Authorized Dealer - - CHRIS ALLEN ALUMINUM WRAP YOUR HOME IN A WINTER WARM - SUMMER COOL BLANKET OF INSULATED ALUMINUM.
