He was born ns raised in the Blackstock area a has lived there his entire life, attending both public and high school Relax and Enjoy Yourself there. After leaving 'school Jim ap- prenticed as an auto mechanic for 5 years in Port Perry and then worked at General Motors for the next six years. In 1968 he went into business and ran a very successful garage buss until 1973, when he was approached to manage the IGA store. Jim has served in that capacity for the past 3v2 years. Jim enjoys sport activi- ties, is a member of the curling club, golf course and plays a bit of hockey with IGA staff members. He is mar- | ried, and he and his wife Shirley live in Blagkstock with their four - children Cindy, Bob, Kevin and Teresa. TRAN'S GENERAL STORE - was purchased last February by two couples, Ed and Eileen Apsega and Hermen and Carol Meijerink 'oper- ate the business as a partnership. The Prince Albert store is the only food outlet in the area and is also the ' location of the Post Office. Ed was _ I a born and raised.in Toronto and when he finished school started working for _ Woolwor'th's before moving to Oshawa . to take a position with Canadian Tire stores. Ed and Eileen live above the store and have one child, Tanya, 2 years old, Hermen was born in Holland and 'came to Canada in 1953, attending school in Hoth Quebec and Ontario. He apprenticed as a machin- ist in Pickering and worked in that capacity for seven years. Hermen and Carol live in the second apartment * above the store and have one child Andrew, 1v2 years oid.
