We hope you are putting your non-essen}- ials aside, Mrs. George Freeman Sr. has returned from a trip to England where she visited with relatives. On Sunday there were several visitors at "Grace" Church. The beautiful red roses on the Communion table, in memory of Mrs. Edna McLaren, were placed by the Marks family of Port Perry. On June 20th, there will be a Communion Service and acceptance of new members or transfer. Rev. Pogue's story for the children was taken from one of Aesop's Fables involving a man, his son and their donkey. They listened to ad- vice from so many people and tried to please others so much, they lose the donkey. The conclusion was that children and adults should judge and consider what God wants us to do. With _the adults, Mr. Pogue based his sermon on Pentecost: when God gave His Spirit to the disciples - and many changes resulted. This developed into a study of charismatics and how young people are attracted to it, and find great satis- faction in it. SS The Women's Institute will meet Wednesday, even- ing, June 16 at the Island Hall. The roll call will re- quire you.to name an invent- ion developed by a Canad- ian. The guest speaker will be Mr. Jim Elliot of Man- -* chester. He will give details about the cleaning industry - and give advice on any art- icle you care to bring, if you are in doubt about the re- sults of cleaning. Photos courtesy Keith Filby, Uxbridge Times- Journal - St. PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, June 9, 1976 -- 15 Area parents meet, form A meeting of the North Durham Chapter Associ- ation for Children withe Learning Disabilities (D.N.A.CL.D.), prompted by a letter to the editor in the Uxbridge Times-Journal two weeks ago, brought resound- ing results from parents in this area. The association, serving, Port Perry, Uxbridge} Leaskdale, Sunderland, Beaverton, Cannington, Sandford, Goodwood, Zephyr, Udora, Utica and surrounding area, met June 2 when an executive was formed and plans for the future were laid down. The executive of D.N.A.C.L.D. stands: Noreen Bowes, Sunderland, - president; Jim Wood, Vx- bridge, chairman; Carol Key, Uxbridge, secretary; Carol MacKinnon, Port Perry, treasurer; and Pat Jones, Leaskdale, program co-ordinator. The meeting was based on an opportunity to listen to a learning disabilities special- ist from Toronto, Shirley Dickson. Her talk inspired the group to hold their first official chapter meeting, Wednesday night, June 9, at John's School in Ux- bridge at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Dickson will speak again at this meeting. The public, teachers, par- ents, principals, doctors, nutrientists...are all invited and encouraged to attend.
