Pogue introduced his lesson theme on seeds and little things through an appropriate hymn. After discussing many tiny seeds that develop into a thing of beauty, through culture and care, he told a story about Sebastian Bach. This great musician once asked his pupil to play the scale of "*C'". When the boy did poorly, he was scolded and told if he didn't practise the simple things, . no matter -how boring, he would never accomplish more difficult music. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McKnight -of Cedar Valley were Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Enoch McKnight, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Maynard of Schomberg called on Mr, and -Mrs. McKnight Sunday evening. /Mr. and Mrs. Watson were in Guelph with Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Watson for the weekend. A week ago the Epsom Sunday School held a tree planting ceremony when a King Maple was planted to mark the Centennial year. All classes participated and <'had pictures taken. There was a good atten- dance at Utica Decoration and Memorial Service Sun- day afternoon. Mr. Michael - Ward was the guest speaker. Service next Sunday will be at 11:30 at Utica. Rev. Newton Reed will conduct the service. The Couples Club enjoyed their monthly meeting Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Taylor. After some baseball, a cooling swim seemed in order. This was followed by an old-fashioned hayride. Lunch followed around a bon fire. Assisting Earl and Elizabeth Taylor were their co-hosts, Ron and Lorraine Brown. Canada Cord Awards Friday eveing was a very special time for two of our young ladies, Miss Martha McCallum and Miss Judy Rudkin when they were awarded their Canada Cord. This the highest award in guiding. The Utica Church was beautifully decorated with Blue and Gold flowers for the occasion. Brownies and Guides took part in the ceremony. The girls were presented with roses by the Brownies. They received a plaque and a spoon and many gitts trom friends. It was a very impressive ceremony high-lighted by an address by Mr. Michael Ward. . Our congratulations Martha and Judy on this very special event. Our special thanks to Bob and | Bev" Thompson for ministering to us a week ago. We love them both and wish God's richest blessings on their ministery in Newfound- land.
