Might I just add a big word of thanks to our regulars for calling. in your news, and of _ course, a heaty applause to our dedicated correspond- ents...without you this wouldn't have been possible. 'Here's to another great year! Wedding bells are once ' again ringing in the Village of Seagrave and this time it's for Miss Lynda Caldwell who will become the bride of Mr. Bill Wray on July 17th in our Church, = There will be a bridal shower for Lynda next Saturday afternoon, June 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Hunter. Lunch will be provided. Bowmanville Zoo has been the scene of much activity this past week from Seagrave when the local kindergarten children boarded the bus on* Friday; under the capable supervision of their teacher, Mrs. Glass, and a few devote mothers, to be fascinated by all the animals at the zoo. "Then on Saturday, the Sea- grave Cubs and Beavers arrived on the scene with a big note of thanks to Mr. Phil Bertrand and Mr. Neil Wanamaker who acted as the lucky chaperones. ~The Seagrave Ball team must have really been feeling their oats on Sunday when they decided to try a double header.'* About 10:00 on . Sunday morning, they decid- ed to challenge the Seagrave girls to a game and as they say, they literally swamped them by a very close score.' Unfortunately in their even- ing game at Little Britain, they met their match and were over-powered to the tune of 17-12. The U.C.W. General Meeting was held last Wed. evening in the Sunday School Room at the Church. A number of items were discus- sed and it was decided to cancel the Strawberry Sup- per this year but the ladies have accepted to cater to a Wedding Anniversary cele- bration in September. A special thanks to the ladies of Unit I for the devotional and please don't forget that the general meeting has been cancelled for the summer months and will resume in September. By the way, did anyone realize that the Seagrave congregation has been in existence for a grand total of 100 years this year? On Sunday evening a very successful party was held at Mr. and Mrs. Don Hunter's home to bid Mr. and Mrs. Don Sanderson farewell. A gift was presented to Don for his great contribution to the Board of Stewards. The community is certainly going to miss this fine couple who took such an active interest in local events. However, our sincere best wishes go with you both as you make your néw home in Pickering. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wana- maker journeyed to Hali- burton last week to attend the funeral of a very close .and dear friend, Mrs. Walter Webb, formally Miss Jessie Hunter. of Prince Albert. Congratulations to Miss Dawn Abraham who placed ¥ third in the 800 meter at the Durham Region Track and Field finals for all Element: ary Schools held at the Civic Auditorium in Oshawa on Saturday. A happy birthday greeting to Master Blair Beacock who was the lucky recipient to his 4th Birthday party. Those who helped him celebrate were his little cousins, Annette and Scoft Foster, together with their father and mother, John and Shirley Foster, and Mr. Keith Rodd and Miss Donna Risebrough. a Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dur- ward held a birthday party for Miss Jan Leslie of Lind- say on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dur- ward have been busy enter- taining Mr. Durward's cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Durward and Mrs. Alfred Walkenhauer of North Dakota for a couple of weeks afd then on Sunday, Mr, and Mrs. Ron Durward of Picton - visited with the Durwards. Mr. and Mrs. Michael McLardie of Mississauga were Sunday visitors with Mr. and. Mrs. Bert Hutcheon. : A large number of area residents and friends attend- ed the Open House for Mr, and Mrs. Norman Hurst's S0th Wedding Anniversary party held at the Latcham Centre in Port Perry on Sunday. Our heartiest con- gratulations to this fine couple and we wish you many more years of happiness. I'm pleased to report one of our hospital patients is now home and slowly getting back on his feet. After all the frivolity the guests of honour were presented with outdoor lawn furniture. Seagrave was represented well at the Pinedale Sunday School Anniversary on Sunday, and next Sunday, Church and Sunday School will resume on schedule once again, at least for a couple of weeks, that is! Public hospitals and religious institutions: Rental premises owned or operated by a religious institution for a charitable use on a non-profit basis are exempt from rent review. Public hospitals are also exempt. Federal, Provincial and Municipal Government rental premises: Rental premises owned or operated by federal, provincial or municipal governments, or their agencies, on a rent geared-to-income or limited dividend basis are exempt from rent review. However, privately-owned and operated limited dividend premises remain subject to rent review. Educational institutions: Also exempt are non-profit educational institutions which provide accommodation for students or staff. However, where there exists a recognized student council or staff association, the institution must consult with them before a notice of a rent increase is given, otherwise this exemption does not apply.
