We've had so much rain that even the snapping turtles are making their way to higher ground. The Greenbank Boy Scouts were roughing it this week- end when they camped out under the capable leadership of their leader, Mr. Butch Latta and his helpers. .., Those Boy Scouts from . Seagrave. who joined in on "the fun'were Mark Sturman, Parrish and Shawn Fisher, Chris Maske and Pat Ber- trand. Then on Saturday, the Seagrave Beaver Group were invited to join in on the activities. A big thanks goes to the leaders of both these groups who take such a great interest and the time to spend with these boys. Family reunions are back in full swing for another year, and I must say, it's great that this tradition is still holding ground. On Saturday afternoon, Mrs. Gladys Scott attended a - combination birthday and family picnic for the Scott family with relatives from as far away as Michigan. Then on Sunday, Mrs. Phyliss Wray and her family headed for Peterborough to attend the Wray family pic- nic, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nobbs and family who attended the Jersey family picnic in Oakwood. Also on Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wanamaker together with the Earl Martyn family of Prince Albert, journeyed to Springfield, Ontario, to attend the Martyn family reunion where relatives . were present from Saskat- chewan to Newfoundland. Sounds like a real great day! Mr. and Mrs. Don Hunter have been enjoying their grandchildren for a stay during the holidays, but at present all is quiet at the Hunter household and things are getting back to normal. Mrs. Marilyn Beacock, Mrs. Barbara Short and . Mrs. Myrtie Stone attended a family showerat the Mc Millan home in Port Perry to honour Miss Donna Rise- brough and Mr. Keith Rodd. Mr. Bill Stobbes of Eng- land was a guest of Sea- grave one day last week and enjoyed visiting with his many friends in Seagrave and had lunch with the Keens. Mr. and Mrs. John Tobin are babysitting their grand- daughter while Mr. and Mrs. Dane Coxworth are enjoying a holiday in. .Calgary and attending the Stampede. Vacation Bible School is in progress once again this * summer at the Greenbank United Church and many of our local youngsters are taking part and enjoying this week of worship. Please keep in mind that Friday evening will be Open House at the Church where you will have an evening of entertainment put on by the students followed with a viewing of their work and crafts in the basement. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Boyle and family have just return- ed home from a week of holidays at Roger's parents cottage at New Hampshire on Lake Huron. I'm sorry to report Mr. Tom Venner is back in the Oshawa General Hospital undergoing tests once again. We hope to see you back home shortly, Mr. Venner. Our farewells go to Mr. and Mrs. Roger Welland and family who have sold their home and are residing in the North Bay area and a wel- come is extended to the new occupants, Mr. and Mrs. R. Winfield. This home was the former Moon residence. Church service on Sunday took place with the U.C.W. ladies conducting the ser- ship. Mrs. Jackie Guthrie of Audley brought a very inspiring message to us. Thanks Mrs. Guthrie and to the ladies who took part in this service for a very worthwhile morning. After the service, Mr. and Mrs. Guthrie were luncheon guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Puckrin. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Puc- krin were guests at the Seagrave and area news Smith-Hooker .wedding held at 'Audley on Saturday and then Saturday evening, Mr, and Mrs. Keith Puckrin and Mr, and Mrs. Roy Puckrn joined in on the festivities. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stone have had the pleasure of a visit from their grandson, Mr. Ron Phinney and friends from Thompson, Manitoba for a couple of weeks holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wana- maker were busy people last 'week when they had a close friend, Mr. Walter Webb of Haliburton as their guest for a few days and then on Tuesday, they. attended the funeral of . Mrs. Adam Sharpe of Enniskillen. Unit I of the U.C.W. held their annual summer picnic on Tuesday afternoon with a special thank you to Mrs. Muriel King for opening her home, and from the sounds of it, everyone had a great time. 2 Now for the weekly ball reports: - Mariposa downed Little Britain 13-10, as well as Seagrave beating Valen- tia, 22-16.
