Merchant's Market considered success This years Western Week- end merchants street market was an overwhelm- ing success according to many of those who partici- pated. One merchant was heard to say, that they did not realize just what they were missing out on, until this year when they set up a table outside with bargain goods for the consumer. Along the street the shopp- er was exposed to everything from ashtrays to tape re- corders, books to clothing and jewellery to hotdogs. Large crowds on the street both Friday and Saturday attributed to the better-than- usual response to the outdoor market. The Chamber of Com- merce are already talking about extending the street mall to include the second block of retail stores for next years Western Weekend. Winner of this years Mer- chants Free Draw was Mr. Jerry Jackman of Port Perry, who received a lawn umbrella, table and chairs. \ 191 Queen Street - STAR Port Perry, Ont. 985-8123 Stationery & Office Surprly A Division of Port Perry Star Co.
