DOA PORT PERRY TAR Jets eliminated from further 0.A.S.A. play by Bob Ryan In the last week the Mal- mont Farms baseball club played two important games. The most important one being the continuation of their 0.A.S.A.play- downs. The team had lost the first game to the team from Odessa, blaming the long-lay-off and the long bus ride, coupled with totally inept play. Well, the team from Odessa made the re- turn trip this past Wed. and seemed to feel none of the affects which the Malmont Farms team experienced. The Malmont Farms team jumped to an early 3-0 lead when the roof fell in and the team began its string of deadly errors. Seven errors sealed the fate of their 0.A. S.A.season as the Malmont Farms kicked, missed, and bobbled their way to a 5-4 defeat and elimination from further 0.A.S.A. play. The team also played the first game of their L.S.S.A. play-offs. The team travel-' led to Ponty Pool and hand- ed the home team a 5-2 defeat. The second game should have gone Monday night and Tuesday if a third game was necessary. The team from Utica has been awaiting the winner of this series and the second series should be underway throughout this week. Minor Hockey Registration Minor Hockey is under- way again, with registration for the upcoming season scheduled and coaching- management recruitment in full swing. Registration for boys will be at the old Port Perry arena on Sunday, Sept. 26 from 2 to 4 p.m.; on Friday, Oct. 8 from 6 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. ¢ from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Sun- day, Oct. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. To register, boys should have their social insurance number and proof of age. Registration fee will be $25 per boy or a maximum of $75 per family with three boys or more. There will also be a meet- ing for men interested in managing-training or coach- ing on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the municipal office on Perry Street. Dyno's have busy summer There was a large crowd in attendance Sunday even- ing at the Nestleton Recrea- tion Centre for the first meeting of the Cartwright Dyno's Snowmobile Club. Events of the summer were discussed and plans were made for the coming winter season. Club members have kept to- gether throughout the summer with a corn roast at the Purple Hill Orange Lodge and a baseball game in Nestleton against the Port Perry Snowmobile Club. The Dymo's also entered a float in the parade for Blackstock fair. Major Jr. "A"' Hockey League. Heard, 17, is a product of the Port Perry Minor Hockey Association and played goal two years ago for the Port Perry Flamingo Junior "C" Club. Barry was drafted by the Knights following the 1974- 75 season and last year played for the Owen Sound Greys. He was selected the most valuable player on their Tier Two Jr. "A" club. Barry will share netmind- ing duties with returning ~ goaltender Pat Riggin.
