The toast to Mothers was made by Leanne Fisher and replied to by Rika Wygarde. There is an urgent plea for Brownie Leaders. - Nestleton, Caesarea news By Jean Bolan In the spring of this year members of Court Ladv Snowbird (Canadian Fores- ters), undertook a rather "enjoyable task. They pur- _chased and wrapped prizes for the patients of the Prin- cess Margaret Lodge. They also applied the same pro- cedure to gifts, to showy appreciation to the Jr. Auxil- iary girls for their magnifi- cent work in making cancer patients that are ambulatory 'feel that all is not lost. Each month a field day is held with races, games, etc. to break the monotony for these people. Those wonderful girls were purchasing items with their own funds, which seems quite unfair, so Lady Snowbird was only too de- lighted to be of assistance. Each member received an individual 'thank you". En- closed in my thank you note was a request to mention the above in my column. If a few dedicated young ladies care enough to spend time and money to help make life more tolerable for cancer patients, I feel that that is the least I can do...with the Editor's permission, of course. It is most definitely a rewarding feeling to help fellow humans less fortunate than we. As we are well aware, parents feel a deep sense of pride when our children honour us at any time. Such is the case with Mr. and Mrs. . Ken McMann of Toronto. Their daughter and her hus- band, Mr. and Mrs. Don Daniels of Scugog Point, honoured them upon the event of their fortieth wed- ding anniversary, on August 15th. The guest list included the five children and famil- ies of the surprised couple, as well as friends of°long- standing. The weather was perfection itself for the oc- casion. An afternoon of reminiscing, swimming in the Daniel's gorgeous pool and other pleasantries filled the warm sunny afternoon. A reading paid tribute to the proud couple. A buffet that was a connoiseur's delight, including a beautifully decorated' cake in keeping with the occasion was enjoy- ed by all. A presentation of money including tickets for dinner in the C.N. Tower was accepted with thanks from Rita-and Ken. May we add our wishes for many future anniversaries of such enjoy- able - nature to this nice couple. The Caesarea Euchre Club - members are not holding their games each Wednes- day evening in the Caesarea Community hall at 8 p.m. We are pleased to welcome two new members to the club in the persons of Mrs, Karen McEachern and Mrs, Debbie Frigault of Caesarea. Win- ners of last week's game were: 1st - Helen Wilkinson; 2nd Shirley Jackson. The "booby" went. to Yvonne. Preibe. Congratulations, gals. Shirley Jackson won the award for the most lone hands for the month. The Caesarea T.O.P.S. club ladies have a contest going for them this month that certainly gives a gal the incentive to lose weight.
