Mrs. Rita Boe and Bruce Carr assisted Rev, Roundell, I believe our choir and Mrs. i [3 Nursing Home The weather has been beautiful this week. Many of the residents have been out for walks or drives with family and friends. They also cleaned up the vege- table farden, having quite a good crop of tomatoes this year. Hoping this sunshine holds until Wednesday when residents go on a leaf tour. The dentist, Dr. Cottrill, visited last week. This is a service that is very much appreciated because it is often top difficult to visit the office. The church and bingo were both well attended. Swimming starts again this coming week. Residents have missed a few weeks due to the annual renovations at the pool. THE UNITED CHURCH OF CANADA PORT PERRY CHARGE Rev. R. Please forward next - week's news to Mrs. Jackie Boyle, 985-3941. I wish to thank Mrs. Bur- net for the following report on the P.T.A. meeting. On Wednesday, September 29, a meeting was held in the Seagrave United Church to determine the interest in forming a P.T.A. for Green- bank school. I am pleased to report that 27 people signed the attendance and are will- ing to support this venture. The meeting" was opened by Gord Burnet, who thank- ed everyone for coming and explained why he has felt the need for a P.T.A. He thank- ed the phoning committee, Pat Fisher, Maxine Lave- reau, Liz Smith, Marilyn Beacock and myself for phoning and invited those who could be reached to the meeting. Then Emme Burnet ex- plained what a P.T.A. is and with references to a now active group in another school gave examples of the duties and responsibilities of a P.T.A. and, with the co- operation of the staff, what can be accomplished here and has been accomplished elsewhere. Then Terry Lavereau, a former teacher with one child in school and two more forthcoming, told of his desire for greater communi- cation and familiarity bet- ween home and school. With reference to his past experi- ence, he elaborated on the parent-teacher-student con- tact aspect, then asked ques- tions which everyone ans- wered and handed in to be used in planning future meetings. Peggy Finch, Irene Bain, Emme Burnet and Terry Lavereau will be meeting with the staff to discuss the results of the meeting and arrange our first combined meeting with them. At that meeting there will be an election of officers. Please think of a responsible person for President, Vice-Presid- ent, Secretary and Trea- surer. Inform your. choice that you are planning to nominate his prior to the meeting. Please watch this column for the date.
