To avoid the instruction- educatjon atmosphere, the club stresses the fun aspect of square dancing. Members are encouraged to come, but will miss a session or two when they don't feel up to it. "We want this to be fun first," said Mrs. Hele. Although there is no charge for the instruction (the instructor is paid for with a New Horizons grant), the group is collecting 50 cents a week to go for social activities, dances, food and other such activities. During the year, the group hosts a dance here, inviting neigh- bouring clubs such as the Oshawa group to attend. The club keeps attracting new members, although many more are needed. There's a manpower short- age, according to Mr. Hele, who thinks men are often embarrassed or shy about joining such a group. Often, one of the ladies must take the man's position in the circle.
