PORT PERRY VIAR By Andrea Jones The Grant Menzies Pacers played twice against Ux- bridge last week and had a pair of wins, 6-1 and 6-3. The goaltending duo of .mond Gibson were threaten- in one goal against Ux- bridge. In the home game last "November 15, Schewaga started and Gibson waited patiently. Robert Greiner was Merle's biggest ally, scoring an authentic hat trick and adding two more for good measure. Milk Healey .as- sisted on three of Greiner's goals and Mark Lee on one. Jay Adam was the other Pacer marksman and he did, sweeping around from behind the net and flipping it in backhand. With 2:39 to go in the game, Schewaga finally missed on a breakaway by Greg Reeves. As predicted, Schewaga was pulled and Gibson finished the last two minutes. Rob Kemp a Owens also bisked up assists. The Pacers played Orono. on Monday, Nov. 22 and will be off to Bancroft for a tournament November 26 and 27 in company with the Port Perry Bantam A team. Their next home game is Monday, December 6 against Newcastle in the new arena. Two-game total for Bobcats 11-3 by Scott Wilbur In this penalty filled encounter the Murray Williams Bobcats Midget 2 team defeated Pickering 6-2 in Pickering. Port jumped into a quick 2-0 lead when Brian Myers let a blistering slapshot go from the point that handcuffed the Picker- ing goaltender. Mike Hamilton made it two when he banged in the rebound from a Brian Myers shot. Ron Ashmore picked up the additional assist. Pickering managed to put a dent in Craig Larmers armour at the 10:00 mark of the 2nd period but Port came right back when Tony Oxley scored with an assist going to "Arnie" Ashmore. Pick- ering scored another goal but the Bobcats came back with 3 unanswered goals. Hope, Canning and Oxley rounded out the scoring for Port. In the .return encounter Port came out flying and zipped by the same pesky Pickering team 5-1. Bullock scored first for Port with an assist going to Cleveland. Tony Oxley popped in another less than 2 minutes with assist by Hamilton and Wilbur. Pickering only goal came at the 9:40 mark of the 2nd period, spoiling Jim Treen's bid for a shutout. Scott Wilbur scored the 4th Bobcat goal as he picked up a rebound in the slot and drilled it into the net. Whitby started out strong and local gang found themselves down . two goals before the mid point of the first period but before_the period ended Todd Menzies scored assist- ed by Alan Ferguson to close the gap to one goal. -Whitby outplayed Port in the second period by a wide margin scoring three goals to our one. Phil Bower scored for Stones, assisted by Kevin Long. The third period belonged to Port as they completely outplayed their opponents. Whitby scored first at the 4:24 mark but Port came back with two goals, the first one by Billy Foote as- sisted by Larry Webb and the second one by Larry Webb assisted by Kevin Long and Billy Foote. Port had several good scoring chances in the final minutes but due to good netminding by the opponents they couldn't put the puck in the net.
