Wee's started off the week on January 24 when they hosted Uxbridge for an exhibition game. Port play- ed a strong game and ended up with a win by the score of four .to three. Uxbridge opened the scoring at the 1:57 mark of the first period but Simon Brierly tied the score one minute later assisted by Robbie Long. This closed out the scoring for the first period with the score tied. The second period was scoreless but Stones' controlled the play and missed several chances around the opponents goal. Port opened the scoring in the third period at the 5:56 mark on a goal by Paul .Sytsma assisted by Kevin Long and Phil Bower. Four "minutes later Simon Brierly added to the count assisted by Jamie Lane. At the 10:32 mark Port picked up a pen-'/ alty and within -12 seconds Uxblj dge scored to close the gap td' one goal difference. With one minute to play, Uxbridge pulled their goal-. tender for an extra player but with 32 seconds left, Kevin Long scored: fjto the empty net assisted by Simon Brierly. With two seconds to play Uxbridge scored the last goal of the game to make the final score four to three for Stones. On Saturday, January 29, Stone's', Real [Estate Pee Wee's were entered in the local Pee Wee. Torunament which was made up of Pee Wee 1 teams with the excep- tion of Stones. _ Stones first opponents were the team from Orono. Orono opened the scoring at the 2:25 mark of the first period and this stood up until the 4:34 mark of the second period when Simon Brierly scored, un- assisted, while Port had three men in the penalty - box. Five minutes later, Todd Menzies scored, assis- ted by Larry Webb to break the tie and close out the scoring forthe game. Final score 2 to 1 for Stones. This put Stones on the Champion- ship side and their oppon- ents were the strong team from Port Hope who earlier had beaten Uxbridge. Stones played a strong game with Peter Christie making numerous sen- until the 6:52 mark of the . second period that Port Hope scored the first goal of the game. At the 9:25 mark Port Hope scored the last goal of the game to defeat the local gang by the score of 2 to 0. Peter Christie was sen- sational in the nets making numerous outstanding saves and the rest of the team all played well and were only travelled to Uxbridgdfor the first game of the playoffs and the score ended up in a two to two tie. Port started very slowly and before the end of the first period they found themselves behind by the score of 2 to 0.
