+ The regular meeting of Port Perry Snowmobile Club was held Sunday evening at "the club house at Sun Valley Marina, This winter has "provided excellent condit- fons for snowmobiling and club members are certainly enjoying it. Trails are reported to be in good condition and are being groomed regularly. Members were reminded to Lead series Emiel's Place is the spon- sor of this years Juveniles. They finished their league in top spot and are currently in play-downs with Uxbridge, .and lead this series 2-1. The first game. went to Uxbridge, which goes to say that you can't have a lay-off of two or three weeks and stay in shape. Port opened the scoring with Paul Beare getting a pass from Stu Cochrane, then Randy Crawford scored unassisted. Uxbridge opened their scor- ing with Schembrie to end the period. No scoring in second period. - Kenton 1 Baird on a pass from Bill . Hurst opened the scoring in the third. - Uxbridge's Todd Pascoe scored two fast goals to tie the score. Ritchie Lefort put Port ahead for a minute before Schembrie second and Crouther's first and winning goal, 5-4 Uxbridge. } In the second game, Port opened the scoring again with Paul Beare from Mike McQuade, Uxb- Collect *1,978. for Snowarama Six members of the Port Perry Snowmobile Club participated in Whipper Watson's 3rd Annual Snow- arama for Crippled child- ren in Bradford on Sunday. The Snowarama is a 100 mile snowmobile run set up much like' a walk-a-thon to 'raise money for the Ontario Society for Cripled Child- ren. The participants collect pledges then try to complete the 100 mile course. _. The six Club members were Dan Cawker, Tom Duff, Dave Gray, Charlie Harper, Bill Harper and " Willy Houthuys and between them raised $1978.00 in pledges. There was close to 500 machines raising approxi- mately $60,000.00 at the Bradford run. REPAMR 'Pickering 2-1. YANK PAS carry their club 'member- ship and C,0.R.S.A. cards as these trails are signed up for "C.O.R.S.A. members only. Snowmobilers who use these trails without written per- mission are trespassing and could be fined. Another driver's training course will be held in the + near future. Cornish girl's school basketball team have - played eight exhibition games so far. They have defeated P.P.H.S. 13-6 and lost 25-22; Thorah 16-8; Joseph Gould, twice, 22-5, --17-14 and Whitby Sr., twice, 26-8 and 35-11. The girls' school team participated in the Bayview Two victories for Novice by Scott Wilbur } On Friday, February 11 the Mersco Novice defeated Pickering opened the scoring in the 1st period but Port came back with goals by Greg Warrin- er and Dave Burnett. Steve Durham and Craig Menzies picked up, assists. John Moore played a good game in the nets for Port. On Sunday, February 13 the Mersco boys demolished Oshawa Woodview Park 12- 3.
