Surprisingly even the citizens there were shocked by their good for- tune. It took several hours to get settled in and it reminded me of the old army days, bunk beds and no privacy, everyhoily felt at home, Wednesday morning the bus left at 0900 hours for a tour of Ottawa. The snow was still falling and very little could be seen. Oddly enough all the lakes and rivers were clear of ice. At 1030 hours, the bus driver, Cpl. Wright, dropped us-at the front door of the Parli- ament Buildings for our pre- arranged tour. The group was met by Mr. Hollings- worth, who is Mr. Cafik's assistant, and welcomed us to Ottawa. Following the tour was lunch, followed by a session of the Question Period in the House of Commons. Leaving the Par- liament Bldgs., the Corps was whisked off to the south- east corner of Ottawa to visit the Museum of Scien- ces and Technology. Having ingested everything offered there, the group was then bussed to the National Aero- nautical Collection of Rock- liffe Airport. At 1800 hours, almost tired and short on gum the Corps arrived back at the hostel for supper and free time before lights out at 2300 hours. - Thursday morning started sharp and snappy at 0700 hours so that a meeting with Mr. Cafik could be squeezed in, At 0930, Mr. Cafik greet- ed the group and told them what he felt his job entailed and encouraged all of them to become members of Parliament (Liberals, naturally). Leaving in doub- le time, the Corps scooted over to the Canadian War Museum to arrive at 1015 hours and spent a few hours tracing the history of Can- The next stop was the most pleasant and gracious of the trip. House and given a very interesting and informal in- sight into the lives of our Governor-Generals and their families. Lunch by popular demand was at MacDonald's, enough said. The group then moved to the Royal Canadian Mint and teased themselves by trying to figure out how they could steal a million until they realized the mint only made coins and they could- n't carry the million if they wanted to. Leaving the mint the group was given the option of free time from 1530 hrs. to 1730 hrs., or to go through the DIMational Gallery of Canad: , Most HOUSE CLEANING e Wall washing by professionals. e Carpets & upholstery cleaned by steamer CALL 985-8640 NOW MORTGAGE ~~ LOANS ® Ist Mortgages from 10%% e 2nd Mortgages from 11%% e 3rd Mortgages from 13% COMPLETELY OPEN - NO BONUS Homes-Cottages-Farms-Debt. Five decid- ed to tour the Gallery and surprisingly they enjoyed it. Besides seeing some masters, there were two whole floors of Canadian Art. In fact, one painting was of duck hunters on Lake Scugog, 1870. It appears to be painted from. the 'north- east corner of Mr. Brook's farm. Friday morning the en- tourage packed and bid fond adieu to Ottawa, arriving back in Port at 1600 hours, one hour behind schedule. The trip proved that youth are addicted to chewing gum and pizza. Bruce and Glen would die without their usual 5 or ten stick "gob". Shelly and Debbie proved to be sympathetic sensationists especially when discussing 'the gallows. Another fear exposed on the trip was the fear of guard duty especially for those who kept making -noise after lights out. > EAL Appointment Congratulations to Joe Podres who has just been appointed Chief Building Official of the town of Lincoln, near St. Catherines.
