Port started out strong and held the advan- tage in play for the first period but from that time on the local squad faded with the opponents coming on strong, and before the final whistle they had scored three unanswered goals to win the contest by the score of three to nothing. This knocked the local team into the consolation round of the tournament. On Tuesday, March 22, Stone's met the team from Orono and the whole team played éxcellent hockey with Peter Christie making many key saves. Port opened the scoring in the game at the 5:22 mark on a goal by Stan Glass, assisted by Simon Brierly and Paul Sytsma. This score stood up until the 6:54 mark of the second period when Al Ferguson scored assisted by Phil Bower. During this second period Port played two men short on two occasions and they not only kept the opposition from scoring but limited their shots on net to a few weak endeavours. © Orono finally got on the score sheet with 3:34 to go in the game but the local gang kept them off balance for the remain- der of the game and ended up winning by the score of two to one. This put Stones into the Consolation cham- pionship on Friday March 25 and their opponents on this occasion were the Major Pee Wee team from Font- hill. Although they were playing a stronger major team the local squad played an excellent game and dom- inated the play for most of the game. A few defensive lapses enabled the oppon- ents to score three unans- wered goals to give them the game by the score of three to nothing. The entire team the entire tournament and the Niagara area during played excellent hockey for also enjoyed travelling to Spring Break. ~ CLEANERS 255 QUEEN STREET - PORT PERRY 9857105 ® Dry cleaning done on premises o Suede, fur & leather service ® Repairs and alterations 10*° nus coupon 1s worm ] 0 > The price of your dry cleaning order when presented with incoming garments. 10% 0 OFFER EXPIRES APRIL 2, 1977.
