Last Friday, April 1st at Port, the Bantams took till overtime to finally win the game 5-2. } Mitchell came out with the first goal at the 7:35 mark of the first period. Port tied it before the period was out on a goal by . Mike T. Tobin, assisted by Weiner Robinson and Darrin Jobb. i Mitchell scored the only goal of the second period with their goaltender mak- ing several excellent saves. Going into period, coach Doug Scott gave a pep talk that really got the boys moving. Shultzie Burnett scored early in the third to tie the game 2-2. Beans Menzies and Hall Storry assisted. The third period ended this way and it now went into a 10 minute overtime period. The Bantams really open- ed up in this period with three overtime goals. Rob Cannon, Krunchy Kroonen- berg and Shultzie Burnett all scored in the overtime to make the final score 5-2. On Sunday, April the 3rd, the Bantams travelled down to Mitchell and just pulled off a close 5-4 victory. This was a very exciting game with Port having to the final - play catch-up hockey most of the game. Mitchell took a 2-1 first period lead with Port's only goal being scor- ed by Shultzie Burnett. Beans Menzies and Chas. Brown picked up the assists. In the second period Mitchell scored two more times to make it 4-1. Little Hillis Wilbur put some spark back in the team when he popped one in from a good pass from Dougy Potts. Davey Alexander also got an assist. In the third period, Bantams lead OMHA finals 2 games to 0 Shultzie Burnett put them within one when he drilled a shot towards the low left- hand corner. Hal Storry got the assist. When 2 minutes left Beans Menzies scored on a powerplay to tie the score at 4-4, Assists went to Shultzie Burnett and Darrin Jobb. It now looked like overtime again, but Shultzie Burnett obviously didn't think so, with only 7 seconds left Darrin Jobb gave the puck to Shultzie and he walked right in and put it. by the goalie. Jack Cook Jr. elected to O.A.S.A. executive The 55th annual Ontario Amateur Softball Associa- tion convention was held the past weekend in St.Cath- arines and turned out to be a great success. The highlight was the election of Jack Cook Jr. to the executive council. This was Jack's second try as he finished very close to the _six elected members last year. Jack has served as Presi- dent and also treasurer of the local minor association during the past five years. Previous to serving on the executive in Port Perry, Jack was manager of several Juvenile, Junior and Int. "C" clubs. Dres- den were the winners, defeating Port three games to one in the best of five game series. Saturday, at home, the Legionaires lost 6 to 4. Port fell behind 5 to 0 but fought back with 1 goal late in the second period and outscored Dresden 3 to 1 in the third period. Scoring plays for Port were. Young from Horton and Fewer ;Storry from Horton and Blayone; Fewer from Tremblay and Storry; Blayone from Trem- blay. Sunday in Dresden, Port lost a close 2 to 1 decision. Ports' only scoring play was Horton from Storry and Young. Lovering played a super game in the nets for Port. The Legionaires to a man, gave everything they PASSPORT PHOTOS had; a 100 percent effort. No excuses, no alibis, a strong defensive game by Dresden earned them the championship. Following the game, the '0.M.H. District Convenor presented the Legionaires with the Finalist Trophy and individual crests. Executive The Port Perry Curling Club hosted the annual Carling O'Keefe Bonspiel Saturday, and 16 rinks from as far away as Toronto and Burlington competed for top spot. Bill Down and Wayne Church had assists. The game remained close and well played by both clubs as end to end proved to make a very exciting game for the fans.
