Orval McLean Auctioneer, 324.2783 Lindsay. open Tools: Prince Albert News Hold memorial service at Pine Grove by Mrs. Grace Beacock Majority of folk are acquainted with the maga- zine "Woman's Day' but one can truthfully label last Sundays worship as '"'A 'Woman's Hour' when some members of 'the U.C.W. were in charge of the church service. Members who participated in various ways included Mesdames R. Deeth, C. Clarke, D. Bid- good, E. Daigle, R. Robin- son, L. Pereman, M. Pugh, B. Beacock. The choir with their music ability were on hand plus a lovely duet rendered by Mrs. Kinnunin and sister Miss Lori Hope accompan- ied by the organist Mrs. G. Hunter. We were privileged to have a guest speaker, Mrs. B. Andrew of Whitby who is associated with Women Alive, an organiza- tion that was born in Barrie in 1973. This fluent speak- ing lady left us with a multi- tude of solid food for thought climaxing an inspir- ing women's hour. Please keep in mind a cordial invitation is extend- ed to all for next Sunday when the descendants of the William John Martyn (who arrived in Canada in year 1846) are in charge of wor- ship in our church at 11 o'clock instead of the usual 11:30 a.m. Let us be hospitable and be present to offer a wel- come hand to the Martyns. Last Sunday ideal weather shone over Pine Grove Cemetery which was heavenly with multi-colour- ed floral arrangements placed in loving memory of the deceased. - - An- appro- priate Memorial Service was again made possible through the efforts of Rebekah and 1.0.0.F. Lodges to whom sincere praise are due. Guest minister Rev. V. Parson's message was most appro- priate. Mr. Wm. Slute's solo was certainly well received, other lodge sur- names who assisted includ- ed A. Ross, E. Beckett, J. Jamieson, 'J. Smitherman, G. Rahm, J. Pearse. : Then too one could hear murmers about the grounds as to the immaculate condi-, tion in which the cemetery appeared. Deserving com- pliments to the caretaker Mr. Geo. Hall and assistant Mr. Geo. Kilpatrick as a ! result to the two Georges i we say "A job well done." Jn29 KEEP REAR WINDOW LEDGE CLEAR Ever put anything on the rear window ledge of your car when you're driving? Well, don't do it, warns the Industrial Accident Pre- vention Association. Check to be sure you don't" keep objects on the rear window ledge. It could ob- struct your view, and if you have to stop suddenly, the object could hit the heads of the passengers. Last Wednesday evening _® Wallpaper. e Panelling eo Carpet e Floor Coverings ) PLUMBING o ELECTRICAL eo CARPENTRY choir practice was held in the. church as usual, But following the rounds of sing- song, it was soon evident a wee. party was "in the air" as a- result 'the members presented Mrs. G. Hunter (organist and choir direct- or) with a blooming plant, Bird of Paradise' in recog- nition for her endeavours in the music field during the year. The recipient Eva, expressed a surprised joy for the remembrance. All enjoyed pot-luck food and away home "til. we meet again after summer recess. Congratulations to "Wind- crest Farms' grand opening; (Deeths) who shared their: warm hospitality for the gala Friday evening dance - A good time was had by all. On Saturday many availed themselves the opportunity to the lectures and demon- strations on various cuts derived from a beef car- cass. Then the tour of the freezer building where Ron guided groups explaining proper feeding of animals, the killing, with sanitary steps all the way including wrapping the process thus to freezer all proved most instructive. Lastly those delicious hot hamburgers and coffee were delicious. May the Deeth's business bloom into prosperous and happy living. The tune of wedding bells never cease especially at this season. Last Wednesday evening Mrs. Geo. Mahaffy with her sister-in-law Mrs. Wes. Lane as co-hostess arranged a bridal miscellaneous shower in honour of a pro- spective bride Miss Jean Hockaday as a result you can imagine a bevy of near twenty-five well-wishers each armed with gifts arrived at the Mahaffy home. Jean expressed her warm thank-you in a sin- cere manner for the beauti- ful array of gifts. Lively games and contests occup- ied time prior to serving a tasty lunch. Relatives and friends were present from Brooklin, Solina, Oshawa, Greenbank, Port Perry. An early summer bride elect Miss Terry Kennedy was recently presented with a flow of presents from a "group of relatives and neighbours who assembled in the Community Hall. Good. wishes and wise advice mingled with lunch made a pleasant party. Last Tuesday evening Mrs. H. Jeffrey and Mrs, F. Brooks were among the group at the home of Mrs. B. Holtby, Port Perry when. a nuptial shower party was planned for a bride-to-be, Miss Barbara Wheeler of .Blackstock whose marriage to Mr, Paul Christie is set for next month. Mr, and Mrs. Fred Brooks served birthday. dinner for one or two including his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hart and son Douglas of Uxbridge also Mr. Ralph Hansen of down town. Weekend company with Mr. and Mrs. M. Pugh were son Ivan of Trout Creek and girl friend, Linda Odrowski, also her parents and their three other daughters. Mr. and Mrs. L. Devitt, Osliawa were company at the Les Beacocks having attended the cemetery ser- vice. Can the youth name the well preserved but quaint article on Irv and Alma Doyles lawn? The olders remember it as' a cream separator. Euchre fans remember next Thursday night, June 30 is the last card party' until September. Last weeks winners' were: Marj Byford, Effie Plough- man, Verne Draper. Men: Evert Watson, Robt. 'Aird, Ernie Luke. i We offer sympathy to Mr, Harlin - Clark over his mother's passing.
