The cooler weather is certainly most refreshing after that hot, humid spell couple of weeks ago. § It's great to see Gloria, (one of our very pleasant storekeepers), looking so much better after her re- cent - narrow escape with rabies. You sure had us Miss Peggy ' DeLong, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl DeLong, R.R.1, Black- stock, has graduated from a 24-month course at the Tor- onto Institute of Medical Technology and Oshawa General Hosptal as a Radi- ological Technologist. Peggy is presently employed at Ellesmere X-Ray in Scar- borough. A -- worried for a couple of weeks Gloria but we are all super pleased that you are back to enjoying good health once again. Seems like this summer has been-an unlucky one for several of our friends in the community. Mrs. Sina Bright has been a patient for sometime in the Oshawa General Hospital and we're pleased to learn that Pat Lycett (nee Woodcock) has Durham graduates Pamela Fergusson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Fergusson, Greenbank, graduated recently from Durham College, Oshawa. She now has the position of Junior Computer Operator with Combines Insurance Company of America in "Torento. been moved out of the In- tensive Care Unit in York County Hospital in New- market and hopefully will soon be well enough to be transferred to Port Perry Hospital. Our best wishes for a speedy recovery go to both of these gals. John Graham had the misfortune to part, company with his horse recently and sustain- .ed some injuries but has since been released from hospital. Annette and Scott Foster have been holidaying with their cousins, Lee and Blair Beacock for a few days while Mom and Dad Foster were travelling in Virginia, West Virginia and the Amish part of Pennsylvania with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Ball of Port Perry. Last week Diane Barr flew to Edmonton to visit her grandmother and to begin an exciting new job out there. Good luck, Dianne! Welcome home to John, Noreen and Janice Ball who have enjoyed a month long holiday visiting and touring Britain and Ireland. Sunday was a rarin' and tearin' day for the members of the Seagrave ball team when the wives and hus- bands got together for a game of "baseball" - I think that's what it was called! The proverbial grapevine has it that some of the gals had to bring out the old Absorbine Jr. on Monday to relieve the sore muscles and stiff legs but otherwise everyone had a real fun ..time. I especially was im- SOS tr lSSslsSSaaaasa Lakeview Plaza's HWY. 7A & Water Street STERN Sidewalk Sale Rustle Up Some Bargains AL.... ~ Umpire helps girls team to victory pressed with the one 'tough' umpire who was known to get so excited about help- ing the gals win that he was seen carrying one gal from third base to home plate! Now that's a great display of male chivalry if I ever saw one, Peter D.! The score from this wonderful display of athletic ability was 21-14. Following the game everyone was invited to the Martin Fisher home for a bar-b-que and pool party which was temporar- ily squashed with a deluge of rain but afterwards they all dashed off to Pleasant Point for yet another game but unfortunately they lost Lady Luck on the way and Pleasant Point was victor- ious over our guys to the tune of 25-23. The team again returned to the Fishers and resumed the party where they had left off. Sounds like it was a fan- tastic day. I'm sure the team members and their families are most grateful (continued on page 14) Correction It was incorrectly announced in last week's Star that Miss Heather Burnfield was the daughter of Mrs. Margaret S. Burn- field. The graduation announce- ment should have read, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Burnfield. The Star regrets any in- convenience this error may have caused.
