Fair Board secretary, Glen Wanamaker suggests that time is runn- ing short to mail back your entry tags. After this week, you should register your entries in person at the Wanamaker residence, 448 Lilla St., Port Perry. In the Art and Photo- graphy class, the prize money has been increased to attract more entries, with a special award to the exhibitor winning the highest number of points in this class. Pictures make an interesting display for the fair-goer, so how about it you talented people? There is something for everybody at this fair, from the children's parade at 12:00 noon on Sunday, September 4, to the bake sale at 5:15 on Monday, September 5. After months of planning by the Directors there remains only to wait for the exhibitors to indicate what classes they will show in. So get those entries in! How is your garden this year? There are thirty-five sections in the Vegetable and Roots Class to compete in. This display .always receives a lot of interest . and will be the Christie building again. There are many special awards and prizes present- ed this year. Of special note is The Louise Patter- son Handicraft Guild Prizes for "Rug, hooked on burlap, woolen material'. There is also a special prize for a "knit cushion". Mr. Wanamaker says the ladies are very good at gett- ing their entries in early, but that the men need a little reminder. 'Now is the time to 'think fair'! Two cakes will be auction- ed on Monday, a chocolate layer-cake and a dark fruit cake. The later will have won the first prize donated by the Port Perry Loyal Orange Lodge, another "Special". In the Women's Building, Wendy Bateman will be organizing a display and demonstration of macrame, loom and hand weaving. The Junior Fair Building is always packed with the most interesting exhibits by the- youngsters. Open to public school pupils of Scugog Township, there is no entry fee, and all entries must be in: place by 12:00 noon Saturday. A list must accompany . your entries - showing the Section number and description as per prize list, with your name, address and your school, printed. Entry tickets will be made out at the building, but can be obtained now from Glen Wanamaker if you have a number of entries. Local cadets at Camp Ipperwash Cadets from Number 41 Port Perry (Army) Corps took part in the Lieutenant governor's Day Exercises at Camp Ipperwash on August 20. ' The Honourable Pauline McGibbon, Lieutenant govenor of Ontario reviewed the more than 1150 cadets from across the province. Also attending with the Lieutenant governor were Captain Bhagisor Limbu the Queen's personal Gurkha orderly, and Captain Bhimbahadur Gurung of the Gurkha engineers, both dressed in ceremonial parade uniforms. The boys and girls from 125 corps who have attended the camp this - summer demonstrated a portion of the training they have experienced in the last six weéks. The girls have a precision drill team with field orien- teering and first aid demon- strations, and boys held' a Feu de Joie with three volleys of ripplefiring with the 7.62 MM FN rifle. Both boys and girls took part in a gymnastics and physicial training demon- stration. To greet the Lieutenant governor the cadets formed into groups spelling out the name "Ontario" over the five- acre parade grounds.
