August 10th Despite the rain on Satur- day morning the Tractor Pull was a tremendous success. Tractors traveled from a great distance for this competition which was thoroughly enjoyed by a large crowd. Members of the ice committee expressed their thanks to all those numerous people who con- tributed in making the tractor pull such a success. The ice fund Mardi Gras will be held on Friday, Sept- ember 16th. with numerous games and other interesting entertainment for people of all ages. Watch for coming events. Linda Hoskin was honour- ed with a family shower last Friday evening at the home of her aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Pereman of Columbus. Congratulations to Barry VanCamp on passing his Grade 2 Theory Examina- tion from the Royal Con- servatory of Music recently. Barry is a pupil of Gladys Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Wright spent a few days in Manitoba and visited with the Harold Forders at Pipestone and Rhea Forder at Reston. Lorna Wright from Java, Indonesia is enjoying 2 weeks holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wright. Les Schryburt, Ottawa, was a weekend guest with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Schryburt, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mahaffy, St.Mary's, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Mabhaffy, Oshawa, were recent holiday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mabhaffy. The tractor pull dance on Saturday evening in the Rec. Centre was well attended with the Ian Page Band supplying the music. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kelly and girls attended the 50th wedding anniversary on Wednesday evening of Gerald's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hunter of Dunsford. Hon. Judge Philip Wam- bolt and wife Elizabeth, sons Garth, Paul and Richard of Medicine Hat, Alberta, were Sunday evening dinner guests of Bill and Carol Anne Jeffers and family. First tie for Bombers Behind the clutch goal- tending by Jay Branton, Port Perry Orange Bomb- § ers fought to a scoreless draw last Thursday with the Uxbridge Maroons. Bran- ton made at least two key saves to salvage the tie. The Bombers went on the offense throughout the game with many shots on the Uxbridge net, but were unable to get one past the goaltender.
