Bombers play again in Uxbridge September 1st 7 p.m. Big catches of fish during Scugog survey This summer has been a busy field season for the Kawartha Lakes Fisheries Assessment Unit. Startingin May on Lake Scugog, the unit began by studying fish populations for seven weeks using trapnets which allowed release of fish unharmed. Catches of fish from the lake were so heavy that no more than six locations could be fished at any one time. Total catch for this' period was over 11,000 fish with the most numerous species' in the catch being 4,800 yellow pickerel. Catches in descen- ding numerical order after pickerel were pumpkinseed, bullhead, rockbass, large- mouth bass, smallmouth bass, carp, maskinonge, perch and common white suckers. Catches from Lake Scugog have been excellent and all species appear in healthy condition.
