'And the situation, would be very .serious if 'the foxes should contact rabies. Because of this possibil- ity, and because club officials now feel that enough is enough, steps will be taken later this fall to have the animals removed from the area. The Ontario Humane Society was to be contacted to see if they can do any- thing, or a professional trapper may have to be called in. It is possible however that the foxes may move out of the area on their own since they are known to re-locate their dens each year. In the meantime, it's business as usual at the club for both the animals and the golfers. That's one par, two birdies and four foxes. The houses proposed for development would sit on lots ranging in size from one-half to about an acre and one-quarter. The Dur- ham regional planners had suggested that only * four new houses be built on this land, which would have made it financially prohib- itive for Jacobsen Construc- tion to proceed. SUPPORT From the discussion Mon- day night it would appear that at least two councillors have opposite feelings about the proposed development by Jacobsen, and the final decision could spark an argument among council. Councillor Reg Rose said Monday night that he was in slight disagreement with the region's original decis- ion to severely restrict residential growth in Utica. Council Rose said that if there is going to be develop- ment in the Township out- side the serviced area of Port Perry, he would like to see it confined as much as possible to existing hamlet areas... And he suggested _that if the Jacobsen devel- opment Proposal is to be included in the Utica boun- daries, a- bond - could be posted by the developer to ensure that new wells be drilled for residents if it is found that any new con- struction results in well con- tamination. "The people who live there now do have some rights in this matter," he concluded. Councillor Don Crosier did not agree, however. He stated bluntly that the Township employed the regional planners to pre- pare a plan.
