A few members may necessarily be late on account of Choir practice which has to be changed from Thursday to Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Turkey Supper, as usual, was a great success even with the weather, for the supper period at least. "The success was partially due to people who donated turnip and potatoes and to the. 16 ladies who are not members of the "Head"" U.C.W., but obligingly don- ated some item for the menu. Then we must remember our extra help from the three men who helped in the kitchen and peeled the pota- toes. Two days previous to the supper, a crew of ladies met at the Community Hall to break up 22 loaves of bread into crumbs and set up tables. This often results in much co-operative planning and jolly conversation. For diversion, the bread break- ers wondered how many crumbs there might be in one slice and began to count. The results varied from 224 to 270. Certainly a lot of plucking to stuff a 26 Ib. turkey. We extend sympathy to the family of Mr. Louis DeHart who passed away suddenly last week. In spite of the depressing weather, a very good atten- dance was marked for the Communion Service at the Island Church on Sunday. Members in the Choir vary but the number has not gone above 13 or below 10 on any Sunday. Perhaps Wednes- day night practice will suit a few more who couldn't attend earlier. Please feel welcome to start at any time and get in on the big concert that is already being planned to accompany the new organ which has not yet arrived. We welcome our new pianist and organist, Miss Dawn Houlding from Columbus and trust that she will enjoy her work with us. We also welcome new residents as Mr. and Mrs. G. On Saturday, Mrs. Mary Sweetman and Mrs. Bob Healey returned from a flight to Chicago when they visited for 6 days with. Mary's sister, the former Helen Sweetman, of Scugog Island. Helen has two sons living in Canada and one at home. While there, of course, they went sight- seeing and had a very enjoy- able time. Recently, Mr. Bill Middle- ton accompanied a brother to a large retirement farm at Pembroke where they visited for a week with another brother who hopes to retire from his work in Port Credit. This coming weekend will be your last chance this year to visit the museum on the Island. So if you have been too busy all summer, add this to your Thanksgiving plans. When the rains continued to come, we didn't know what to expect for the Annual 'Harvest Home" Service at the "Head"' Museum Church. However, we soon learned that the people had set their hearts on attending and could not be forestalled from a service that they knew or heard, would be good. So approximately 150 people crowded into the newly decorated and immaculately clean building which revived memories of former days. The early decor is very interesting and has required much work with still some items to put in place. The program designed and formulated by Mrs. Helen Redman showed the School house prior to 1928 and now the site of the Museum. The information described the evening in detail stating with musical entertainment by Peter Chellew and Russell Baird. The Lake Scugog Historical Choir with Norman Watson, Mrs. Gladys Thompson and Rev. McEntyre thrilled us with their songs and music. Rev. Linstead was pleased to welcome the guest speaker, Rev. Brawn, who felt so much at home as he reminisced about relatives who lived on the Island and served this church in its early days. ~ We noted visitors from Raglan, Flesherton, Mark- dale, Hayden, and Port Perry Of course, the pie social following the Service was not to be ignored, either.
