The opening: devotions were taken by the president, Mrs. F. Daw assisted by Mrs. A. Fisher and Mrs. R. Batten. The guest speakers for the evening were Rev. and Mrs. Ted Stevens of Brooklin. They also showed slides of their work in India. When they were on mission field there and Mrs. Stevens had some slides of interest taken when she was a nurse with the mobile unit on the Jansi field India, where she was working with the Presbyter- ian Church as a missionary. Mrs. D. Ashton thanked the speakers and a social nt over lunch. Thanksgiving Sunday Church service was very well attended. The morning message was "Expanding our Gratitude" and Rev. McEntyre sang a very appropriate Thanksgiving solo. Junior church was looked after by Mrs. Ross Batten. Mrs. Fred Daw visited last week with her sons Mr. and Mrs. Brian Daw and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Daw of Toronto also Mr. and Mrs. Roy Harri- son of Toronto spent Thanks- giving Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Daw. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Flem- ing and family spent Monday with her -mother, Mrs. O. Graham of Balsam. There were 5 tables of euchre played at the Com- munity Centre on Friday night last week. Mr. Wm, Gardner and Mr. George Livingston won the mens prizes. Miss Hilda Hopkins and Miss Joan Senko won for the ladies. Mr. Jake Honingh got the most lone hands and Mr. Don Wood won the door prize. The next .party will be October 21st. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Samells of Port Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Westfall and daughter Heathér of Burlington and Mr. Wm. Lee of Stouffville were visit- ors with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gardner over the weekend. We are sorry Mr. Sydney Emm is a patient in Oshawa hospital. We wish for him a speedy recovery. We thought our church calendar had a good thought for the day that is worth repeating at this thanksgiv- ing season '"Thou hast given so much to us, dear Lord, give us one thing more - a grateful heart."
