Perrin and sons of Alymer and Harry's mother from St.- Thomas were Thanksgiving weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs.. Harry Bolton. : Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Pendel- bury of Toronto were guests with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Asling for lunch on Sunday. Thanksgiving dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Enoch McKnight were Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Kolyzanki of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Ken McKnight and family were also home for the holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Potter and sons entertained her parents Mr. and Mrs. Baster Sr. of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Jones Glen Major, Mr. and Mrs. Barry Bushell of Uxbridge on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Baster had just returned from a visit with Paul, Shirley, Cathy and Julie at their home in Holland and had many slides showing Paul and Shirleys home and scenes from the area in which they are living. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Card were pleased to have all their family home for Sun- day supper. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Taylor were supper guests with Earl's sister, Miss Ruth Taylor of Cannington. Blue Ray Chapter PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Oct. 19, 1977 -- 13 Install 1977 - 78 officers By Mable Cawker The Masonic Hall, Queen Street, Port Perry; was the setting for a most impressive Installation Ceremony, held Thursday, October 13th at 8 p.m., to install Worthy Matron-elect Sister Stella Dennis, and her staff of Officers for the 1977-1978 term. Sister Mable Cawker, Worthy. Matron, conducted the opening ceremonies of Blue Ray Chapter assisted by Brother Sam Cawker, Worthy Patron, with officers in their respective stations. Many Chapters were repre- sented and the Worthy Matron welcomed a number "of Past District Deputy Grand Matrons and Patrons by Mrs. Ruby Fielding No church Sunday, Oct- ober 23 due to Grace Scugog church anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Mitchell spent Thanksgiving week- end with Mrs. June Thomp- son, Mrs. Foster and Mrs. Hogg at Canarvan. Mrs. W.J. Mitchell and Mrs. B.D, Hitchens spent Wednesay in Toronto and took in the new Eaton's shopping centre. Mr. Rueben Hancel of Oshawa, weekend guest with the Mitchells. Mrs. M.E. Latimer spent the Thanksgiving weekend with her nephew Mr. and Mrs. L,B. Roberts. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dobson calling on Mr. and Mrs. Wes Stokes at Little Britain Sun- day. Mrs. Jim Torrens of Mon- teal visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson and Wesley last week and all Manchester 4-H by Linda Albers 4-H has begun once again. This 'unit concerns 'The Cereal Shelf'. It will. cover each cereal from day till night in meals and snacks. We will study the different cereals such as barley, oats, corn, rice, rye and wheat. We will make things with them such as Garden Green Rice, Squares, Muffins, Lasagna Macaroni. Each member is required to have arecipe file and record book. Our achievement day is December 10. INSTALLATION The Installation ceremon- ies were conducted in a high- ly efficient manner by Sister Irene Dennis, Sister Anne Dawson of Zenith Chapter, Toronto, Brother Norman Mairs, Sister Margaret Jeffrey, Sister Jessie Espie, Sister Mary Pearson, and Sister Adelia Burnett of Blue Ray Chapter. Soloist for the evening was Sister Nellie Pring, Durham Chapter, who rendered beautifully two favourite Hymns "Oh! Jesus I have Promised and "Oh! God our Help in Ages Past", accompanied by Sister Winnifred Newton of Whitby. After expressing a sincere thank you to the officers and members of Blue Ray Chap- ter for the great honour con- ferred upon her, and the Installing Board for the beautiful Installation, the newly installed Worthy Matron Sister Stella Dennis, in her opening speech stres- sed active co-operation in the year ahead for success, striving at all times to up- hold the high standard that the Chapter has attained. The newly installed Worthy Patron Brother Sam Cawker spoke briefly asking support of officers and mem- bers, and expressed his warmest appreciation to other Chapters within the District for invaluable assis- tance throughout the past year. Sister Stella's husband, Chris, and family and friends were introduced and given a cordial welcome. Many gifts were received to commemorate the occasion. The incoming officers presented Sister Stella with an ivory engra- ved gavel, and the Past Mat- ron's Club gave her a beauti- + ful Bible. She was the recipi- ent of many other beautiful gifts from the family, the friends attending and other Chapter members as well. At the close of the meeting a delicious buffet supper was enjoyed, convened by Sister Jean McDermott and her committee, concluding an informal pleasant evening.
