A third man, also from Oshawa, wanted in connection with the July robbery at Becker's and a robbery at the same 'store September 26, is in custody in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and will face similar criminal charges there. The arrests followed a len- gthy and intense investigat- ion of both robberies by P.C. Frank Armstrong of the Whitby detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police. Last July 26, two men entered the Becker's store shortly before closing time, rifled the cash drawer, and escaped out the back door where a third man was wait- ing in a getaway car. The thieves got away with close to $500. with about $80 recov- ered after it had been drop- ped near the scene. On September 26, a lone thief entered the store late in the evening and got away with less than $100. Gregory French, 22, of Oshawa, and Mitchell Mal- anuk, 22, of Whitby are to appear in court to face char- ges of armed robbery, in connection with the July 26 incident. Daniel Manuel, 22, of Osh- awa, is charged in Thunder Bay with armed robbery, and faces two similar charg- es in connection with the two incidents at- the Becker's store in Port Perry. French and Malanuk were apprehended by police in the Oshawa-Whitby area last week. They have been relea- sed on $4000 bail. Police report that Stanley Duvall, 36, was driving east- bound on Queen Street just before 11:00 in the evening when somebody threw an egg through the open win- dow on the driver's side.
