Guests attend- ing the meeting were Don Crosier, Ron McDonald, Steve Brown, Const. Dun- ham-and Gord Goode repre- senting Scugog. Council, Scugog Roads Dept., Dur- ham Region Traffic Dept., Durham Region Board of Education and the O.P.P. The main topics of discuss- ion concerned the potential dangerous situation of the school bus crossing at Reg- ional Road 2 and River Street, the resurfacing of the old bridge and the road part way up the hill south of the village, repairs to the exist- ing sidewalks and the instal- lation of additional street lights in some areas of the village. A letter of recom- mendation will be sent to the Durham Board of Education and the O.P.P. requesting that a timed flashing amber light be erected immediately! south of Regional Road 6 as well as a sign to advise southbound motorists of the hidden intersection as well as a school bus and pedestr- ian crossing ahead. These two factions will then make a formal recommendation to the Durham Traffic Dept. and hopefully they will agree with this idea. Our Roads Superintendent assured us that the bridge and that particular portion of the road will be resurfaced late in the spring of next year. Don Crosier stated that there should be no problems in having repairs made to the sidewalks and that the streetlights would be install ed. It was also suggested that the corner of Regional Road 2 and River Street be widened out sometime in the near future as it is most difficult turning into the vill- age from the north. A special thank you to our guests for taking the time to attend the meeting and also to our villagers for attend- ing. I think it must be most gratifying to our elected offi- cials to see that much inter- est generated by such a relatively small community. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nobbs spent a few enjoyable days in Columbus, Ohio last week where they attended the World Congress of the Quarter Horse Association. The birthday box got a little boost at church on Sunday when Sharon Stone and Ken Sturman dropped their deposits in. Happy birthday folks! Everyone is beginning to gear up for our annual Turkey Supper which will be complete with turkey, of course, pie and, plum pudd- ing and all the rest of those delicious goodies that accompany turkey. The date is Wed. Nov. 2. Hope you can attend. Last Monday evening several Beavers and their parents attended the Cub meeting when several Beavers swam up to Cubs in a most 'impressive cere- mony. - Congratulations to all! On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Ken Sturman and family attended the 50th Wedding Anniversary celebrations of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rowan of Bethany at the Bethany United Church. On Sunday Ken and Eleanor hosted a dinner party for her parents and her sister and niece Mrs. Harvey Slater and Pat of Saskatche- wan. The Brownies spent Wed- Seagrave and area news nesday afternoon at the Port Perry Nursing Home with some of the Senior Citizens singing songs and knitting and crocheting. Hot choco- late with marshmallow and cookies were served after- wards by Mrs. Jean Nash and her assistant. Saturday afternoon the Brownies finished working on their ceramic mugs at Ceramics House of Joy in Ashburn. These will be on display at the bazaar on Saturday, November 26. The Annual Baking Contest will be held on Saturday, November 5th at 2 p.m. Greenbank Hall. The judges will be Mayor Lawrence Malcolm, Mrs. Ruby Beare and Mrs. Jean Hunter.
