Social Service needs differ Regional Council must recognize the differences in need between .large and small municipalities as they relate to Social Services, according to Councillor Don Hadden. Mr. Hadden was speaking as a panelist at the Annual Meeting of the Social Plann- ing Advisory Group on Wed- nesday, November 9th. The theme of the panel was "Local Funding for Volun- tary Agencies'. Mr. Hadden, a member of the Social Services Commit- tee, conceded that the Com- mittee may have "thrown the baby with the bathwater when it abandonned all grants to Voluntary Agencies last year." In defending the move he said it was becoming impossible to make the political decision of whom to fund and whom to reject especially with the large number of applica- tions. The. Social Planning Ad- visory Group will be looking at a number of recommend- ations coming out of the meeting including develop- ing guidelines for Local and Regional Governments to consider concerning support for Voluntary Agencies.
