Westminster U.C.W. and Maple Grove U.C.W. led the worship services which "were reverent preludes for the messages from the guest speaker Rev. Roger Maggs, Oshawa Hospital Chaplain, whose compass- ionate and sensitive pers- onality was revealed when he explained his specialized ministry as Hospital Chap- lain, where he fills the gap the Medical Doctor misses by counselling, interviewing taking time, listening (a for- gotten art), and that per- sonal touch that transmits love and closeness in time of stress. He provided en- couragement to his aud- ience as he stated woman is where the power is and many hospitals are an arm of the Church from which financial aid is appreciated. He said Jesus shares our pains and God is there in time of suffering and stress but patient and family need Chaplain and nurses soft hands at high tension times. He admitted he had per- sonal upsetting moments from challenges which were met with God-given strength. ~ Words of appreciation and benediction closed both richly inspirational meet- ings.
