PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Jan. 4, 1978 -- 15 Pacers finalists in tournament took a three to nothing lead by the end of the period. The Pacers tried hard but couldn't make up the dif- ference in the third period which gave Oshawa the three to nothing victory and the Midget Championship in the tournament. The players on the Pacers have nothing to be ashamed of because they all playéd excellent hockey on both days with both goaltenders, Raymond Gibson and Tim Treen, only having three goals scored against them in three games. 1 would also like to thank Tony Oxley for coming up and playing in the third game with us on short notice. The next home game for the Grant Menzies Pacers is Monday, Jan. 9 at 9:30 when they host the hard hitting Newcastle club. So come out and watch some exciting Midget hockey. Basketball (continued rebounders with 17 and hit for 15 points. Simmonds and Fedyk led the team in steals as well as assists. ) This is the second consecu- tive tournament victory for the Port Perry junior basketball team, and they "would appear to be on their way to earning themselves a repulation as a power- house in southern Ontario.
