14-- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Jan. 11, 1978 Sports Flamingos score 25 goals Port Perry Flamingos edged into a second place tie in the league standings as they completely throttled Lindsay Muskies 14-1 in Junior C action at Scugog Arena Sunday night. The win, before 250 fans, gives the team 32 points, the same number as Stouffville, and leaves both teams 12 points behind first place Bowmanville. The Muskies Sunday night played like fish out of water as Flamingos domi- nated from the opening face-off. Brad Nicholson opened the scoring at the 3:23 mark of the first period with a power play goal, and Flamingos built up a four goal lead before Lindsay got on the board late in the third period when Gary Beukeboom scored on the only shot that was to beat Port Perry goalie Charlie Durward. With a little more than four minutes left in the first period Rob Greiner scored the prettiest goal of the evening as he capped a three-way passing play with linemates Trent Mood and Keith Holten. Lindsay was being called for a delayed penalty on the play and Port Perry was able to use the extra attacker after pulling goalie Durward. Flamingos added two goals in the, second period, and then completed the rout with eight unanswered markers in the final 20 minutes.
