Bethany 6 - Sonya 4 Bethany scored early .in -the first period on a goal by Terry Malcolm from Dave Burns and Vaughn McGill. Sonya came right back and Rick - Purdy scored from Jim Herr. Bethany then took over with 3 quick goals with Larry Currins scoring from Dale Jewell, then John urns scored from John Mather and Dave Burns. Then John Mather scored from John Burns and Dave Burns. Bruce Hicks then scored for Sonya from Blair Hicks and John - Ingram. Larry Currins scored again for Bethany from Dale Jewell and Jeff Stuart. Steve Turner scored . for Sonya from Gord McMillan. Port Perry Legion 4 - Spnya 7 It was a see-saw battle in the first period with Port scoring first when Danny McCartney scored - from Willy Thorton and Dale McNenly. Sonya tied it when Tom Thompson scored from Blair Hicks, Port went ahead again when Dale McNenly scored from Doug Bronson. Greg Welton tied it from 'Rick Purdy and Steve Turner. Doug Bronson put Port ahead again from Dale McNenly and Bob Motelli. Sonya went ahead with three goals with Rick Purdy scor- . ing twice, one from Jim Herr and the other unassisted. Then Steve Turner scored from Rick Purdy. Port.came back within one on a goal by Willy Thorton from Doug Bronson. Sonya ended the game on two unassisted goals by Bob Sinclair and Jim Herr. Midget 2 ties Uxbridge 4-4 by Scott Heard The Port Perry Midget 2 club travelled to Uxbridge on Monday, Jan. 16 to put on an exciting game of hockey for everyone attend- ing the game. It was a close checking game all, night with each team gett- ing a point out of it as the final score ended 44. Port got two quick goals at the end of the first period to give them the edge going - into the second. Their first goal went to Tony Oxley assisted by Scott Heard and the second -to Rob Fellows unassisted just 25 seconds later. Port Perry made it 3-0 at 7:05 into the second period with Greg Fedyk scoring and Hal Storry picking up the assist. Uxbridge then stormed back with 3 goals before Port took the lead again with 2:55 left in the final period only to have it taken away when Uxbridge made it 44 with only 6 seconds remaining in the game. ENDS THIS SATURDAY, JANUARY 28th Two days later the midgets journeyed to Bow- manville to make up a can- celled game and left with 2 points to move their league total to 19 out of a possible 30. Even though Port was playing with just 10 players they still came out on top, winning 5-1. There was one goal scor- ed in the first period, and it went to Port Perry's Scott Heard after being set-up by Tim Bower. Bowmanville tied it in the second but Port Perry start- ed rolling and never looked back. They made it 3-1 at the end of the period with Greg Fedyk scoring from Tony Oxley and then Brian Myers found the mark being assisted by Tony Oxley. The third period was dom- inated by Port Perry as James Taylor scored from Greg Fedyk and Tony Oxley and John Robertson got the final goal assisted by Tony Oxley again giving him a 4 point night. The midgets play their last league game on Wed- nesday, Feb. 1 when they meet Uxbridge at 7:45 and try to make an even 2-2-2 won, lost, tie record in six games. Sherri Allen scored her fourth goal and winning goal making the score 6-5. Gail Sandison and Debbie Warriner also scored for Children's first goal for this year for Deb. Player of the week for Children's Boutique was Nancy Young who made her presence on defense known on many occasions during the game. Country Village had three big goals from Barb Elliot.
