The Lindsay Peterborough Presbytery met at this time also. Our two groups gather- ed together at 10:00 a.m. fo celebrate Holy Communion, conducted by the Rev. James Hutchinson, the Intrim Moderator. The President of the Lind- say Presbyterial W.M.S. Mrs. MacFadyen opened the meeting with the scripture verse from St.Mark 1:37 "And when they found him, they said unto him, all men seek Thee". The theme "Seek and ye shall find" - "Seek ye first the Kingdon of God and all these things shall be added unto you" St.Luke 12:31. Mrs. C. MacInnes of Lind- say W.M.S. welcomed all the ladies to St.Andrew's and wished all a fruitful day. It was moved by Mrs. Nichols and seconded by Mrs. Hunter, the minutes of the 1977 Annual Meeting be approved as written. The secretary, Mrs. Francis read a card of thanks from the family of the late Mrs. Vealo. A letter was read regarding the Consultants and Edu- cational for the Divisions of Presbyterials. A letter was read from The Committee on' Alcoholism, there will be further discussion at the Ex- ecutive Meeting in March. There will be a Leadership Training Course for Secre- taries, in Guelph, June 23, 24 and 25. Locke, a deli- cious lunch was served by the members of the Goforth group. Before the afternoon session the ladies were asked to visit Mrs. Little's Litera- ture table. The theme for the after- noon session '"'Ask and it shall be given" scripture verse: "But I know that even now whatsoever Thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee!" Mrs. MacFadyen constituted the afternoon session by all repeating The Lord's Prayer. Praise sele- ction "Christ for the world we sing." The Devotions including the 'In Memoriam' was conducted by Balsover ladies. Mrs. Scott read the scripture from St.Matthew 7:7-11 and St.Luke 11: 3-5. A very impressive meditation was given. Mrs. Nichols read the names of the de- ceased, and followed with prayer. Mrs. Clark Fennell, the Lovise Patterson Handicraft Guild The February meeting of the Louise Patterson Handi- craft Guild took place in the St. John's Church hall on Wednesday, February 8th. A note to members arising from the meeting - could the members please have all the embroidered crests finished and returned before the May meeting. The workshop was a con- tinuation of learning to cro- chet which we started in January. The members who were learning to cro- chet were paired up with the experts and each pair managed to finish a granny square. The workshop was follow- ed by a tasty lunch and a big birthday cake which was served to the members by two of the charter mem- bers, Doris Elliot and Dorothy Naples. Next month we are going to paint eggs in preparation for Easter and we hope to see all the vacationing members back on March 8th. Check to be sure you don't keep objects on the rear window ledge. It could ob- struct your view, and if you have to stop suddenly, the object could hit the head of the passengers. Presbyterial Treasurer gave an encouraging report show- ing once again we surpassed our objective. Many thanks Mrs. Fenne]l for all your efforts. Roll call showed a representation of 60 ladies. Mrs. Janet Ariss of Balsover sang a beautiful solo, "Hold Thou my hand" she was accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Scott. Mrs. Fennell introduced our guest speak- er, Dr. M.B. Dymond, The National Director of Second Century Advance for Christ. Dr. Dymond challenged us to give more of ourselves - time, talent and treasury for the work of our Lord Jesus Christ. The message was inspirational, exciting, and meeting educational. The offering was received and dedicated with prayer by the president. Invitations were received from : Uxbridge to hold the Executive on Wed. March 8th at 2:00 p.m. and from Port Perry to have the Semi- Annual in June, the date will be confirmed later. a Mrs. McFadyen: declared all offices vacant and a new slate of officers selection. Mrs. Karen Timbers install- ed the new officers for 1978. Mrs. Hoyle extended the courtesies. Praise selection "Amazing Grace" was the closing hymn, Mrs. Timbers offered the closing prayer. 3 Scugog Island W.I. by Mrs. Clara Dowson The regular meeting of the Scugog Island W.I. was held in the Community Hall the evening of February 15. In the absence of our 'President, Helen Fedyk ably conducted the business and extended a warm wel- come to all. Meeting open- ed by singing the Ode and repeating the Institute Creed. Roll call was answered by 14 members and 3 visitors. Lenore Blueman, Linda Lambrecht and Mrs. Dr. Dymond by a favorite poem or favorite piece of philo- sophy. Motto was given by Jess Chambers. "The Canada we enjoy was not brought to Nationhood by timid Citi- zens." Sec. report given by Janis Richardson in the absence of Christena - who we are sorry to report was in hospital. Eliza reported on finances. Correspondence read and this year the theme for our display at the Port Perry fair is "Brighten your Kit- chen". Reports from stand- ing committees. Reta Wilson's group in . charge of Citizenship and World Affairs served a delicious lunch of cake, tea, Vv coffee.
