The teams went all out and treated themselves and spectators with Ringette played at its best. We had four tied games out of six games played. Methinks with the thoughts of no more Ringette for this year every- body produced above their ability level with congratu- lations in order to every girl and every team. Thursday night's action had Country Village facing elimination unless they could beat Children's Boutique. The score was 6 to 5 for Country Village up to the fast 15 seconds when Children's Boutique scored to tie the game. A heart breaker for Country Village but un- believably exciting and en- ~~ joyable for spectators. Scoring for Country Vill- age were Linda Warriner with 3 goals, Joanne Free, Patsy Spears and Jackie _Abraham with one each, and assists credited to Jackie Abraham, Patsy Spears and Bonnie Bridge. . Children's Boutique's scor- ing was three by Sherri Allen, one by Chris English, Gail Sandison and Daphne Butt. Assists credited to Lisa Canning and two to Daphne Butt. Saturday's games were as well played and exciting as two tied games can be! Dominion Hardware played both games and their efforts: are to be congratulated in being able to play so hard two games in a row. It took the final game of the Round Robin to decide, would you believe "A tie" for first place between Children's Boutique and Dominion Hardware. So these two teams will play the final series, best two out of three games. Children's Boutique and Young Dominion Hardware fought to a 8-8 tie in the first game. Children's Boutique big shooter was Sherri Allen with seven goals, Chris English one goal and one assist and three assists to Daphney Butt. Scoring for Dominion. Hardware were Karen Young with three goals and one assist, Wendy McDougall 2 goals and one assist, Sharon Ashmore one goal and three assists and Brenda Foote one goal. The second game ended in a six all tie between Country Village and Dominion Hard- ware Country Village was out of a playoff berth but still could upset first and second place standings and they sure played hard to do that. Scoring for Country Village _ were Linda Warriner with 3 goals and one assist, Jackie Abraham with one goal and one assist, Patsy Spears and Joanne Free with one apiece and Paula Haugen and Janice Jackman with two assists each. Scoring for Dominion Hardware were Karen Young "with three goals, Wendy McDougall with two goals and one assist, Sharon Ashmore with two assists, Brenda Foote with one goal and two assists and a final assist credited to Bonny Burton. Sunday the Port Perry Junior Belles went to the Whitby Winter Carnival to play Whitby Ringette. We came home with an 8 to 5 loss. Methinks we can beat this team as both times we have played them we've out- scored them in the first period but started to die as they came on. Maybe next year! . 3 si: July BUNGALOW COMPLETELY FINISHED. Erected on your lot. C.M.H.C. Approved - A.H.O.P. Eligible Call COBOURG HOMES for details. [416] 372-9432 i "The new tax reaso w. A successful racing season A young Port Perry girl is starting to make quite a name for herself on the Ontario snowmobile racing circuit. Patti Kendry, who hasn't yet reached her 14th birth- day has recently completed the racing tour for this winter and in the Junior Class (ages 12-15 for boys and girls) she placed third .overall, and was just eight points away from a second place finish. Patti. has .competed in races this winter as far away as Timmins and Stoney Point (on Lake St. Clair), and the highlight for her was the STP Kawartha meet early in January at Peterborough when she won the Molson Silver Cup as the top female driver in the competitions. And at.the recent Winternationals in Markham, she drove to two second place finishes and a third and fourth. Despite her young age, Patti has been on the winter racing circuit for three years, and she says she is very happy with her im- CONTINUOUS FORMS available at the . - Port Perry Star 985-7383 provement in the standings this year. Driving a Mercury Snow- twister 250 that can hit. speeds of 80 MPH on the straights, and will average better than 60 MPH around the oval tracks, Patti says 'that for the first time this year she didn't have any fear during the races. But"that is not to say she hasn't taken a few spills. In one race she hit the boards on a corner at 60 MPH. In another race she was cut off on a corner, fell from the machine and then while sliding on the track was struck in the legs by another snowmobile: In both cases she suffered only minor bruises. Patti comes by her inter- est in snowmobile racing the honest way: Her father Bill, has been an active racer, and he and her mother, Linda, both work at races for the Ontario Snowmobile Racing Federa- tion. While the racing season is finished for this winter, Patti is already looking ahead to next year, and says she will continue to race the 250 Twister in the Junior Class. And when she reaches her 16th birthday, she has plans to keep on racing against men and women'in the senior classes where the competition can get mighty tough. ® Registered trademark of Dru3 Trading Co. 11d.
