Busy weekend | forCadetCorps . The Port Perry Cadet Corps spent this past week- end at CFB Borden. The Females as usual were lap- ping in luxury with ensuite bathrooms, kitchen facilit- ies and very cozy living room, while the boys had the bare necessities of life, 4 walls, matresses and cold showers. % Saturday was spent firing the FN Rifle on a 100 ft. Target Range. As usual Cpl. M. Barton and Cpl. Margaret Cole were among our highest, scorers. Poor # Gary Culcoop had to move forward 6 inches after each shot, we didn't know whether he was advancing. or retiring. CI Hodgins did his usual efficient job on scoring procedures. Then on to the Museum for 1% hours of old and new, pictures, uniforms, firearms and tanks of every description. On Sunday at the Island Church, there were many small children, but some of the older ones were taking advantage of the Winter school break. The choir is coming back to normal attendance but more male voices are needed. Don't forget, practice is now on Thursday nights. Rev. Linstead's story for the children involved an early Hawaiin Queen who was elated when young, at- tractive people were sacri- ficed to the volcano to appease the wrath of a god- dess. But after she became a 'Christian, she allowed no more of this and openly op- posed the people who still believed in the goddess. The theme of the sermon for adults was forgetfulness, a common factor for all humans. A moving story indicated that forgetfulness can cause deep suffering and is there- fore a sin. Sometimes for-, getfulness is a blessing to keep our minds from being troubled. Many times we POSTAL SCALES 1 Lb. Pelouze Regular *6.60 New Rate Dial Regular *1.35 Both for 'h 05 GL | . 5 1b.
