Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dobson supper guests with Mrs. Cecil Adams at Courtice on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Price and boys of Prince Albert supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. G. Marcotte. Sincere sympathy to Mrs Lillian Wilson in the death of her husband, Robert Wilson in Wellesley Hospital on Sun- day. ~ Mrs. E. Doupe, Mrs. S. Gray and Mrs. G. Marcotte attended the Charlie Pride Concert in Memorial Arena at Peterborough Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Torrens, of Montreal spending a few days with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank .Johnson:- and Wesley. Mrs. J. Kingstone and her 4-H girls enjoyed their nature hike to Prentice's sugar bush on Sat. They appreciated having Mr. and Mrs. Egerton Pegg of Greenwood to instruct and answer questions for them. The highlight of the day was the delicious pancakes and maple syrup. ira a iim dlp duibiniinuititid ad Members of the Port Perry Lions Club' proudly celebrated the 40th Anni- versary of their Charter Night last Saturday, with a banquettand dance at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall, Over 175 Lions and their wives crowded the hall to hear guest speaker James E. "Bing" Miller, past Int- ernational Director, from Malvern, Pennsylvania talk about Lionism. A surprise presentation was made by Port Perry Lions president Bill Brom- ley to Cecil King, who has been a member of the Lions for 34 years. "Lions Cec, the president said, 'has been an efficient member for over 30 years and it is my pleasure to present to him his 34th year Perfect Attendance Pin." As a special award it was revealed that Mr. King's name has been inscribed on the Foundation Honour Roll of Lions International, and he was given a framed cer- tificate in Lion Cec was given a stand- ing ovation by his fellow and visiting Lions. Rev. Reg Rose spoke on behalf of Scugog Township and welcomed the Lions to Port Perry and wished them well on their 40th - Anniversary. Mr. Rose said that there is a need to co-operate in every com- munity and it is through the efforts of organizations like the Lions that the commu- nity benefits. "We are for- tunate to have an abun- dance of people who give of themselves, both individual- ly and through service clubs" he said. Snow bylaw back Councillors Richard Drew. and Don Crosier have been appointed by Mayor Mal- colm to study a snow re- moval bylaw for the town- ship. The appointments came after Drew and Crosier made a. motion to re- introduce the possibility of a snow removal bylaw to help keep the sidewalks in resi- dential and business areas cleared of snow. There have been a num- ber of complaints this winter about the condition of the sidewalks around Port Perry and the hazard they cause to Senior Citi- zens. "It is our ladies that help us do what we are called on to do as Lions." Mr. Miller paid tribute to those people with the fore- sight - to - organize a Lions Club for the good of the community and to all those who have worked hard to accomplish what it has over the 40 years. "May you Lions hold 40th Ann. Charter night continue to grow," he said. Speaking about Interna- tional Lions as well as local, he said that Lions must be realistic in their thoughts - we are a great organization whose business is serving peoplé and we must remain a dedicated, united fighting force working and serving man and humanity. "There is nothing too large we can- not accomplish if we stand united", he concluded. A dance and evening of fellowship and renewing of acquaintances followed the banquet. Lion Cec King, was all smiles when he learned that his name had been inscribed on the Foundation Honour Roll at Lions International. _ Bromley, right, announced the honour.
