It was Missionary Sunday at Burns Church April 2nd at the morning service, Mrs. J.A. The new nursery at the church is ready and beginning next Sunday a worker will be on hand at 11 a.m. to receive children up to 2 years old. After that age there is a Junior church programme for them. The Easter Thanksgiving service of the W.M.S. was held in the santuary of the church on Sunday evening and took the form of a pageant. The president, Lois Daw, gave the call to worship and' Helen Batten led in prayer. Muriel Fisher was the readér and. joined the Easter story from the cruci- - fixion to the Resurrection, while in between readings, 'nine couples with symbols gave scripture verses and lit a candle and placed it in the cross. All this was interspersed with music. Solos were sung by Flor- ence Ashton and Jean McEntyre. Duets by Diane Batten and Alfred Fisher also Chrissie Simpson and .Rose Heron. A quartette number was sung by Hugh Knight, Harold Fisher, Ted Heron and Alfred Fisher. As the senior choir sang "Morning has Broken", the junior choir entered the choir loft dressed in their gold coloured gowns and gold crowns and sang "Up from the grave He arose'. Everyone sang 'Oh, Mighty God, When I Behold the Wonder" making a very effective finish to the programme. Much credit is due to Muriel Fisher and Nellie Hopkins for the arrange- -ment of the pageant and a special thank you from the W.M.S, to all the. willing helpers. . Lunch was served in the Church hall and everyone enjoyed a social time to- gether.
