"The farm Dunni- shop is mentioned in accounts back as far as the 13th century. The present house, in the Tudor-style, was built in the time of Henry VII. . Mrs. Blight spent her girl- hood at Dunnishop where she married Campbell Mac- Donald Fraser. She came to Canada after his death in 1929, on the Andania, and settled at Cavan with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Sharpe. She married Mr. George Forder in 1933. Mr. Geo. Forder was the father of the late Mrs. May Wright and the late Mr. Joe Forder of Blackstock. When living in Blackstock Mrs. Alice For- der was a valued Commun- ity worker. She was always generous in helping organi- zations and individuals with baking, knitting etc. and won many prizes at fairs with her talent in this line. Many will remember her baking Wedding and Anni- versary cakes for them. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will al- ways. be grateful for the many kindnesses she show- ed to them. After the death of Mr. Forder in 1943 .she kept house for Mr. Sharpe at Nestleton where she was also a valued Community worker. In 1961 she married Mr. Ewart Blight of Brooklin® where she resided for 17 years and carried on her generous work there as well as keeping in touch with her Nestleton and Blackstock friends. She leaves her husband Ewart and step- son, Leonard Blight of Brooklin and several nieces and nephews in England as well as a host of grateful relatives and friends in local communities. The funeral service was held at McDermott- Panabaker, Port Perry. Sunday 2:30 March 12, 1978 with Rev. Rose conducting. Spring interment to be at Groveside Cemetery, Brook- lin. Nestleton WI elect 1978-79 officers Nestleton Women's Insti- tute met in the Community Centre on Wed. April 5 at 1:30 p.m. The president, Mrs. George Heaslip wel- comed all and opened the meeting with the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. The secretary, Mrs. M. Firlit read the minutes, financial report and correspondence. Several invitations were re- ceived. The 4-H Achieve- ment Days on 'Major in Meat" will be held in Grandview Public School on April 15 and Clarke High School on April 22. The Port Perry Hospital Auxili- ary Spring Fair is May 27 and the Social Planning Council Annual meeting is April 12 in Port Perry. One resolution re junk foods in school cafeterias was read. This is to be voted on at the District Annual in Kendal on May 9. Mrs. J. Wygerde brought the report from the District. Nestleton is responsible for the memorial Service at the District Annual. During the business period it was decided that since winter weather condi- tions 'are unpredictable and several members holiday in the sunny south, we would hold regular meetings in July and August this year and cancel January and February meetings. The Roll Call was payment of dues. Our Annual meeting followed the regular busi- nesss. The secretary read the Minutes and year end Financial Report. Russian ships The United States may be Canada's biggest trading partner, but the country with the busiest overseas merchant fleet calling on the port of Toronto in 1977 was the Soviet Union. For the fourth straight year, the Russians had more ships in Toronto Harbour than any other overseas country. The Soviets made 46 trips into Toronto last year, two ahead of Germany.
