Our 30th annual "At Home" was a great success, and we owe it all to Kelly St. John, Shelley How- sam and their excellent com- mittee. With a little experi- ence behind us, it went together well, and ended well. Again, P.P.H.S. made some excellent choices for their 1978 "At Home' Queen and Princess finalists. But we had to narrow our choice down! Anna Robertson cap- tured a first for Queen with Gina Brinkman close behind. From the junior end, Leslie Forder brought in the most votes for Princess; but Kelly Fairman was a close second. The ballots were close, and the decision was hard - but 1 think we may all agree, the choices were well placed, beginning to end. On behalf of the 'At Home' committee 1978, I'd like to thank Shelly and Kelly for the hours they put in to make the evening the suc- cess it was. You deserve the bouquet! Unfortunately last week's article was not in, but I hope you didn't miss Drama Night. It was a success as always. There will be a collection for our Foreign child, Thurs- day and Friday (May 4 & 5). Make a note to check the front showcase. A display will be set up to give you a brief background of our little girl. Due to lack of support, talent night has been cancél- led. We hope you'll be around to help next year? Record week has been slated for May 8 - 12. Get out the hoola hoops and pogo sticks! HV SVE ERD STEW ASAIN EX § Anna Robertson was crowned At Home Queen at the dance held at Port Perry High School Friday night. Meeting sought for fire code The Scugog Township council fire committee wants to arrange a meeting with the Fire Marshall's office and Unit One of the Scugog Department to look into the possibility of a coded numb- ering and identification syst- em for the homes and farms in old Reach Township. The matter was raised at the regular meeting of coun- cil April 24 by councillor Richard Drew who said that the department is seeking funds to set up a numbering system. . Councillor Drew, who is a member of the fire commit- tee, told council that with new houses going up in the Township, the -fire -depart- ment feels that some kind of numbering system might be useful in getting firemen to a I fire more quickly. He sug- gested that the residents, especially those who have more recently moved into the rural areas, are some- times not able to pinpoint their. location, or give the wrong directions over the phone to the fire department. Councillor Drew said the department initially suggest- ed that every home in old Reach be designated a coded number which would include the concession road, whether east or west of Highway 12, and whether on the north or south side of the concession The coded number would then be attached to the resid- ents' phone which would al- low firefighters to pinpoint the location .
