Many exciting tours * for Senior Citizens by Marion King The Senior Citizens had a very nice afternoon and evening drop-in on Wed. April 18 with euchre, pool and shuffleboard, being the attractions. Bessie McCullough had brought several kinds of bread and cheese, for a light snack and a social time was enjoyed, over the tea cups. It was nice to see some of the sick back with us again. On Wed. April 25 our regu- lar meeting was held. We opened with the National Anthem. Then Mac, our president, welcomed four new members, Dorothy Hood, Mr. and Mrs. Sher- wood and Mrs. Jeffries. We had the minutes: of April 11 read and adopted. In absence of Ray Grierson, Stan Ploughman acted as Vice-president. The bus will take Senior Citizens to Woodbine races on June 21 - probably a forty-nine passenger, as a gaod many wish to go. Also arrangements will be booked for the Living Christmas tree, right away so we won't be disappointed... Stratford Theatre: will also be on the bus agenda probably June 5 to see Merry Wives of Wind- sor, cost $17. and your meal extra., Mr. and Mrs. Mel James and Mrs. Irwin will continue as visiting commit- tee to the sick. The delegates to the convention in August was left over to next meet- ing. Treasurers report was given and much thanks are due the Lions Club for help- ing with telephone bill. The euchre reported thirty-six dollars turned in to Ernie. Marjory Whipper spoke briefly on Sr. Citizens pins which are $1.75. Please give your order to Marjory. Don't forget rummage sale on May 3 at 1 o'clock, also includes tea and bake sale. Cards have been sent by our corresponding secretary to Mr. Free, Percy Willis and Doris Grierson, who have both had recent bereave- ments by the loss of their sister. Scugog Social "The Man who Came to Dinner', the famous comedy by Moss Hart and George Kaufman staged by the local theatre group '/Borelians" will have its premiere Thursday, May 25 and continue on Friday and Saturday, May 26 and 27. Individual, group and cast rehearsals have been going on for the past six or seven weeks practically every evening. A number of well-known local persons take part in the play with a cast of over 30. By far the largest part is Mr. Sheridan Whiteside played by Terry Hodgins given an affection- ate kiss by a famous actress Lorraine Sheldon, portrayed by Cathy James, well-known from her participation in previous plays at Town Hall 1873, 'namely "Mame" and "Curious Savage". At right are the lovers, Miss Maggie Cutler and Bert Jefferson, played by Leslie Summers and David Lepp. Scugog Island WI install officers by Clara Dowson The annual meeting of Scugog Island W.I. met at the Community Hall on Wed- nesday evening, April 19 with 20 members and one visitor from Regina, Saska- tchewan. The president, Mrs. Elizabeth Stickmann, welcomed everyone and opened the meeting with the Ode and Collect, followed by the Roll Call at which we paid our yearly dues. Motto given by Helen Fedyk - "All is well that ends well." Sec. report was given also the Treasurers report. Corres- pondence was read. Donation given to the Planning Council. July 15 is the date of our annual auction sale, and Bonnie Gerrow is convenor. Tickets are on sale for our for prize. Committee .for display at the fair, same as past years. District Annual is May 24 at Whitby. Mr. Cavanagh is going to Eng- land, and we hope to send greetings with him to Smeeth W.I. ) We graciously accept the invitation to Honeydale W.1.
