18 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, May 10, 1978 (SRO { A Bowling for the Lanes Championship at Centennial Lanes for the past three weeks is complet- ed and winners are, left - Larry Elliott and Merle McQuade's and Flames ball h Stu Cochrane blasted a shot by Scott's goaltender Don Card with 6 seconds left to break a 2-2 deadlock in ball hockey action last Mon- day (May 1). Both McQuade"s and Scott's teams went scoreless in the first frame which provided lots of close check- ing. Scott's team hit the scoreboard first on a goal by Ken Fraser assisted by Doug Scott and Bruce Smith. McQuade's team fought back and tied the score 3 minutes later on a goal by Charlie Durward assisted by Ken Bryant. McQuade's team took the lead in the third stanza at 13:28 on Charlie Durwards second of the night, unassisted. Scott's team tied the score on a powerplay goal by Ron Red- man, assists going to Mitch Mullen and Doug Christie. This set the stage for Stu Cochranes game winning Man drive with just seconds remaining, unassisted. This game was marred with pen- alties as each team took 26 minutes. The second game of the night saw the Aztecs smother the Flames by a score of 8-2. The only goal of the first period came off the stick of Rob Kroonenberg Assisted by Dave Jackson. Mike Healy got the second period rolling for the Aztecs on a goal assisted by Sean Taylor. Terry Henderson made it 3-0 on his first of two goals. Assisted by Paul Beare and Terry Landry. With 2.25 left in the second period, Greg Fedyk fired one past Aztec netminder Doug Culbert to make it 4-1. The goal was assisted by Doug Bronson. Three minutes after Faux himself potted his first of the season assisted by Hab Storry and Ken Jeffrey, the Aztecs got another short- handed goal with 2:15 left in the game by Terry Hender- son (second of the night) assisted by Ian McGarvie. The Aztecs allowed Randy Knight to notch his first of the season due to some sloppy play in their own end.
