There will be a home economist on hand to demonstrate the art of scarf tying. Door prizes will be drawn and the usual penny sale, bazaar, and bake sale will be available. Last week in the Star under the headline, Black- stock Boy wins Bike Rodeo Junior Trophy, the only mistake was Blackstock claiming the wrong boy: Sean Elliott winner of the Senior Trophy is a proud resident of Blackstock and I believe the Junior Trophy winner, Robbie Gray hails from Cannington. Jill Van Camp celebrated her fifth birthday with her _ friends, Christie and Julie Corden, Laura Gilbank, Tracey Hoskin, and Joel Schryburt at her home on Tuesday afternoon, May 9th. Ten ladies from Black- stock attended "Summary. Day" for the pattern-alter- ation course taught in April, at the Maple Grove Church near Bowmanville on Wed- nesday afternoon. The afternoon included a fashion ® show which was aptly com- mentated for the Blackstock models by Eileen Mec- Laughlin. On Wednesday evening, May 10th, several families in the area were entertained by Alex Laurier of the Polka Dot Door, at the Public School. The Blackstock Nursery School had planned the evening as a money making project for the pro- posed playground in Black- stock. The Nursery School Cookbooks were also avail able for sale at the event. The Senior Citizen's Card Party was held on Tuesday evening with 19 tables par- ticipating, winners were: 1 - Ervert Watson, 82; 2 - John Griffin, 80; 3 - Myrtle Wag- ner, 80; 4 - Edna Larmer, 79; 5 - Mildred Thompson , 79; 6 - Phyllis Clark, 78; and low - Edna Vivian. Wednesday afternoon the Nursery School enjoyed the visit of a dental nurse. She talked about the importance of brushing with the assis- tance of a puppet, 'Murphy the Molar'. The children were pleased to take home a toothbrush and an apple sticker as a reminder of good dental health. Lulu and Oscar Graham were the guests of honour at a dinner party held on May 10th in honour of their 56th Wedding Anniversary. Guests at the dinner were Clarence and Luella Gra- ham, Mervyn Graham, Edna Bradley, William and Esther Chapman and Alma Duff. The Recreational Centre over the course of the week was transformed into the palace of Cinderella's wooing as C.H.S. students made ready for the annual 'At Home' which took place on Saturday evening. The choir out did them- selves with a snappy num- ber called, "Happiness is". it's nice to see so many singing in the choir now. Rev. Parsons preached an interesting and appropriate sermon on what constitutes a marriage. . He noted that our social institution of marriage is a monogamy, not to be confused with monotony. At the Nestleton service, Rev. Parsons con- ducted Baptism Service for the following: Alisa Lyn Campbell, Darren Edward Grandel, Derrick Leslie Vic- tor Malcolm, and Kingsley Lawrence Malcolm. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gibson of Oshawa, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gibson of Bowmanville spent Sunday afternoon in Blackstock with the ladies' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Larmer. Mr. and Mrs. David Andrews spent Friday in Ottawa, while Dave's mother stayed with the chil- dren, where they attended the funeral of Carol's sister -in-law, Ottawa. The community wishes to extend sympathy to the Andrew's family on their loss. Visitor's are welcome on Thursday (tomorrow) at Cartwright Central Public School where, weather per- mitting, they will stage a "Field day', with athletic competitions in field and track. ] } 'Mr. and Mrs. Harry Van Camp attended the wedding of their grandson, Bill Van Camp to Norma Calick on Saturday in Port Perry. There son and daughter-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Art Van Camp and Jayne spent the weekend with them in Blackstock. On Sunday, in celebration of Mother's Day Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Van Camp of Ancaster treated his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Van Camp, and Connie's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carnegie of Prince Albert, along with Elizabeth Carnegie to din- ner in the Rib Room at the Genosha Hotel in Oshawa. On May 6th, Mr." and Mrs. Bob Bryans and family along with Edie Alstein and Rick Alpe attended the wed- ding of Debbie Walker to Andy Taylor at the church in Courtice. Mr. Bob Bryans performed the duty of M.C. at his niece's wed- ding while Patti Bryans was a bridesmaid Susie Killin of UU by Bethany Schryburt Queen And Princesses Mr. and Mrs. Bob Byans visited with their parents on Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Wilf Brown of Courtice and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bryans of Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bryans then enjoyed having supper with Mr. and Mrs. Rene Cormier in Oshawa on Sunday evening. Bob was unable to attend the event due to his 5th annual fishing trip with the 'boys'. PLANS FOR A DROP-IN CLUB: Six weeks ago, that was before charges were laid to the 24 Blackstock youth, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Traves, and Mr. and Mrs. John Jef- fery recognized a need in the Community for evening entertainment for the Blackstock youth. Mr. Jeffery met with Rev. Parsons of the United Church, Rev. Rose of the Anglican Church, Mayor Malcolm of Scugog Town- ship, and Mr. Hogg and Mr. Paisley, principals of the local schools. Each meet- ing was separate and on a one-to-one basis where he gained the verbal support of each leader for the project they were about to -under- take.
