M24 Interesting season Town Hall repeats subscription series The subscription series initiated by Town Hall 1873 last year became quite suc- cessful and will be repeated this year. ; Following some lengthy and time consuming negoti- ations with various groups and artists the program committee of Town Hall 1873 was able to establish the 1978-79 subsciption series at a meeting last week. The members of the com- mittee believe they have been able to engage the best of artists, some already known to Township of Scugog residents and they look forward to an interest- ing and successful season. Peter Appleyard made a big hit here last year when he appeared with the Oshawa Symphony Orches- tra. He will again appear in Town Hall 1873 this year with his own group on September 29 Oshawa Symphony Or- chestra will give a concert on November 13 and will have the famous Moe Koufman, a talented musician, favouring the flute, as guest. On January 26, 1979, City Brass, a quartet of fine Toronto musicians will enter the stage in Town Hall 1873. This is a new and exciting venture for area music enthusiasts. Oshawa Symphony Or- chestra will return on March 3, 1979, and will present an evening of George Gershwin program, including solo per- formers. To end the subscription series programs on March 30 and 31, will be the always generous and talented local artist, doctor-pianist Tom Millar. These are the five great events scheduled for sub- scription series season. However, many other inter- esting events will be present- ed during 1978-79 and per- haps the most demanding will be "My Fair Lady", now being rehearsed for five per- ~formances in November.
