14 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, May 25, 1978 Nine Theta Delta members form Exemplar Chapter Nine members of Theta Delta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, after completing at least four years of the Ritual of Jewels degree, are forming Xi Epsilon Theta, an Exemplar Chapter. The sisters progressing are Eleanor Bailey, Donna Don- nelly, Glenda Hutcheon, . Bunny Rowland, Fran Slug- gett, Alma Speir, Jan Towns, Carol Williamson and Gail Williamson. Three members of -other Exemp- lar Chapters who have re- cently moved to the Port Perry area may also be joining this new Exemplar Chapter. Early in 1978, on January 21st, Theta Delta enjoyed some 'good old rock and roll" at a Grafitti dance at Donna and Ji t Lawson's, The. chapter n bers and their husbands put Shanana to shame with their 50's costumes. Other social events included a '"'come as you are' breakfast hosted by Linda McInerney in February. On March 18th, a very large crowd attended an enjoyable evening of dancing at Theta Delta's annual St. Patricks Day dance. :Theta* Delta and Uxbridge Theta Psi mem- bers with their husbands celebrated Founders Day on April 28th at the Catholic Hall in Uxbridge. Theta Delta was proud to have elected Fran Sluggett as the Girl of the Year. The group will travel to Toronto for dinner and to see the play "Hold Me" at the Tellers Cage on May 27th. The Chapter's progressive din- ner-is-planned for June 17th and will be based on a Hay waiian theme this year. hapter service projects has included helping the Cancer Society selling daf- fodils and with canvassing the Port Perry area. Theta Delta has assisted with the Tuck Shop at the hospital and again at Christmas, the group gathered together a gift box of food and clothes and toys for a needy family in this area. The sorority members really enjoy wrap- ping these gifts for children who otherwise would not receive very much. The Chapter has decided to don- ate $200. to the Central Seven Assoc. for the Men- tally Retarded, $50. to the Town Hall, and $50. to Sick Children's Hospital. Theta Delta and Xi Epsi- lon Theta will both be look- ing forward to the fall. Both chapters wish every- one an enjoyable summer. RON . Auxiliary to hold Spring Fair It's Spring Fair time a- gain for the ladies of the Port Perry Community Memorial Hospital Auxi- liary and their annual event will be held on Saturday, May 27th at the Latcham Centre. Auxiliary members are promising a good time for visitors this year from the time Sheldon Smith, chair- man of publicity for the Hospital Board opens the Spring Fair at 2:00 p.m. until it concludes. There is a good lineup of activities and tables with a "newer booth", tea tables, variety and white elephant table, plants, candy table and a bean bag game for the kids. "A special attraction this year are two exciting draws. One for a beautiful Pant Suit and another for a steak dinner for two. Why not make an after- noon of it-and attend? Visi- tors are more than wel- come. Thought..... Mothers come in assorted sizes and shapes. They are general house- keepers, gardener, plumb- er, secretary, can burp babies, make a palatable meal from leftovers, collect paper clippings, family pic- tures recipes.
