An annual recital presen- ted by students of Mrs. Grace Hastings and Mrs. Gertrude Jackson was held on Tuesday evening, May 16, in the Port Perry Town Hall. Congratulations to Eldon Sears, Stephen Sears * and Kelly Boyle who did Seagrave proud by playing their piano selections so very well. Many of our Seagrave residents were among the large crowd attending the annual bed races in Port Perry on holiday Monday. The baseball season start- ed off on the right foot for our Seagrave Old Timers on Sunday evening. They over- whelmed (the number two "team from Little Britain by a score of, believe it or not, 24 - 2! Next Sunday, Valen- tia hosts our Seagrave Hall of Famers, with the game starting at 6:30 p.m. Celebrating birthdays this - past week were Brett Puck- rin, Scott Branton and Reg Winfield. Happy birthday to each of you. The Seagrave Sunday School Anniversary will be celebrated this Sunday, May 28 at 11 am. Mr. Lloyd Wilson of Uxbridge will be the guest speaker. Special music will be pro- vided by the Sunday School Choir and the pre-Kinder- garten children. Please note that there will be a practice for these children after school at the church on Wednesday, May 24. Rev, Sellars will be the guest speaker and the Greenbank School Choir will provide special music on this occasion. The Pinedale Sunday School Anniversary will be held on Sunday, June 11 at 11 a.m. On June 18, the Seagrave U.C.W. will be responsible for the Church Service. Please be reminded of the '"'Cubaree" taking place this Saturday, May 27 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Green- bank Park. The Beaver Banquet will be held in the Seagrave Church on Saturday May 27 beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Seagrave Board of Stewards plan to hold their meeting on Monday, May 29 at 8 p.m. in the church. Around The Township For 25 years Charlie Lown and Ross Hutchinson have been coming to work at the same location and for their dedicated service over the years, they were hon- oured recently by their employers. Bill and Storey Beare of Beare Motors and the entire staff were on hand at a banquet recently when the two men were presented gold watches for their 25 years of loyal service to the company. Their wives, Ann and Marilyn, were given roses for the occasion. For the past six years the coming of Spring has also meant that the Kinsmen Club would soon be putting on their annual Springfest in aid of serving the commun- ity. This years two-day event which features the popular band "Lockerbie" will be held this Friday and Saturday, May 26 and 27, at the Scugog Memorial Arena. Barn cat mothers raccoon A four-week-old raccoon, abandoned shortly after - birth by its mother, is pro- gressing very well these days, on a diet of cat's milk straight from the cat. Tom Maeda, a herdsman at Hanover Hills Farms, west of Port Perry, found the baby raccoon and start- © | ed to feed it with a small - bottle. Jim Kelly of Blackstock was one of 28 General Motors employees who recently graduated from the GM-UAW apprentice program. The four-year course involves more. than 7,000' hours of shop work and 576 hours of classroom instruc- tion. Mr. Kelly's apprentice- ship was in machine repair, . Students living in the eastern areas of Scugog Township who are interest- ed in finding summer work should note that a Canada Manpower Centre for stu® dents is now open in Bow- manville and officials are looking forward to an im- provement over the success- ful first year. Students who are serious about a summer job this year should register with the office as soon as poss- ible.
