The Orange Bombers (spon- sored by Irvine Construc- tion) took the lead and kept it with a 4 to 0 win. Good teamwork helped an up and coming new player David Irvine to score all 4 goals. Well done, Boys. On the same evening Port Perry's other Squirt team (the Green Hornets) coached by Gerry Le'Roy and Brian Mark played their first away game at St. Johns playing fields in Uxbridge against the Uxbridge Red Barons, who took the game with a 6 to 0 win, Pee Wee:On May 22nd, the Port Perry Pee Wee team coached by John Martens played their first home game against the Epsom boys coached by Frank Veghel,Jr. at Port Perry High. An ex- cellent passing game with Robert Huggins scoring the first goal for Port, on a pass by Ken Huggins and Chris Martens, within the first ten minutes of the game. In the second half Robert Huggins scored his second goal on a rebound Epsom boys came on strong in the second half but couldn't get through Port's defence. The game * finished 2 to 0 for Port Perry. Mosquito:On May d the Port Perry Te coached by Bruce McLaurin and assisted by Ann Mec- Creight played their first away game in Blackstock against the Blackstock Unit- ed coached by Eric Brown _ and assisted by Bob White. In the first half Blackstock 350 boys Continued Provincial play-offs later in' ~ this season. ~ The week of June 19 to 24 is Minor Softball week in the Province and as usual the local Association will be holding it's annual parade and games at the park on June 24th. This year we will be having Mr. Bill Johnson of CHOO RADIOas our hon- ourary Parade Marshall and Mr. Johnson will be throwing out the first ball to open the evening's festi- vities. It looked like we were about to tie it up but Blackstock really came on strong and scored another 2 goals. Fin- ishing the game witha 4 to 1 win for Blackstock United. Atom: On May 24th the Port Perry Blue Phantoms coéch- ed by Pete Bateman and assisted by Doug McKinnon played their first home game at R.H.Cornish against the Uxbridge White team. A very exciting game with lots of action only 1 goal scored and that was by Uxbridge in the first half. Ports Blue Phantoms had their chances but to no avail. Well done, boys. Atom: The same evening the second Atom team the Golden Eagles coached by: Brian Yeo and assisted by. Peter Jones played their first away game at St. Johns in Uxbridge against the Uxbridge Reds. The Port Perry Golden Eagles had a flying start in the first half with three goals. The first. byAndy Systma, the second by Barry Willerton and the third once again by Andy -Systma. In the second half Andy Systma got his first hat trick of the season and scored his third goal. Fol- lowed by a goal by Ux- bridge on a penalty. Ports fifth goal was scored by Peter Hoogers followed with another goal by Adam Nicho- lishem, and them the se- venth and final goal by team captain Barry Willerton, ending the game 7 to 1 for the Golden Eagles. This team is sponsored by Mr. Jack Big- glestone. Squirts: On May 25 Ports Orange Bombers played a- way against Uxbridge Saints. David Irvine scored the fist goal in the first ten minutes of the game. John and girls The feature game of the evening will have the CHOO RADIO softball team play- ing the members of the Ex- ecutive in an exhibition soft- ball game. This should be a fun night and more informa- tion will be in the Star in the coming weeks. Softball fans should also write this down . on their calender the 3rd annual Midget Tournament on the weekend of July 15. There are already six ent- ries in from the top softball centres in the Province. Rodway scored the second goal. Uxbridge Saints then . took their first goal. In the second half Uxbridge tied the game 2 to 2. Orange Bomber's David scored the winning goal as- sisted by Joey Jackman making it a 3 to 2 win for Port. The Green Hornets played home against the Uxbridge Purples at R.H. Cornish. Michael Sorley scored the first goal in the first half for the Hornets. In the second half he followed it up with another goal, much assisted by his team-mates, winning by 2 to 0 for Port.
